College isnt the NFL.  Shenault had over 1000 yards receiving in a season in college as well.

So since you thought of one example, we are to apply that logic to all similar situations?  Legette has not caught a pass in the NFL.  Why not berate him for that.  The bum.

Pac 12 isn’t the SEC… Leggette is a vertical threat he averaged 17.7 yards per reception, you aren’t throwing this guy “bubble screens” all game. You’re using him downfield and winning vertically, that is why the panthers drafted him. We were never looking at short and intermediate weapons, it’s why Ladd wasn’t our pick.

DJ for Chark instantly makes it better. Mingo in year 2 should be better than rookie Mingo, XL adds some physical explosiveness that was missing. Also the improved OGs should help them have a little more time to get to their spots. On paper it looks better but we will have to wait and see on the field.

I agree regarding Johnson to an extent.  However, if the offense shows a dramatic turnaround it would be possible to simply resign him.

In looking at Canales offense last year, I don't think TE is an issue.  Their starting TE only caught 45 balls all year.  It's just not a feature of the offense.  RB on the other hand is something that may be an issue, as the Bucs starter caught 64 balls.  In fairness, Chuba caught 39 on only 44 targets, so maybe there is something there after a couple years of struggle.

Anyway, I think it's fair to say that our WR room is drastically different this year.  And that's a good thing.  We won't know if it's drastically better until the bullets start flying.

yeah, anything is possible, I'm laying the odds as of right now on Johnson.  I think he trends more as a one year guy than anything.

I guess that's my issue on Canales and Bryce and the Panthers overall.  I think if you are just going to do what Canales did in Tampa and insert Bryce? Just call it a wrap.  Bryce is such an anomaly at QB he needs a unique Bryce centric O.  I mean, we saw the insert Bryce into what I do approach last year.  It was a trainwreck.

He quoted his college stats his 5th year as why he will be a good receiver.   I said that the wr i compare him to also put up those stats in college.

Yes our WRs should be drastically improved with the additions of Johnson and Legette. Remember, we brought Damiere Byrd back last year looking for some speed and he promptly got injured and never played a game. Johnson gives us the route runner and separator we desperately needed. And Legette had the second most 30+ yd catches in college last year. And they’re both fast. We have better pieces and they complement each other. We won’t have to rely on slowass Mingo and Thielen taking 10 seconds to run a 5 yard route anymore, and we can tell TMJ to kick rocks we don’t need him slowing down for a walk in the middle of a route this season.

You used an incredibly broad statistic, I explained why your statistic comparison was invalid. And proceeded to use a more specific example for my argument and explain its use case, I can go all day man. You clearly don’t know much about football and especially the NFL Draft. Just keep hating and making invalid arguments it’s funny to watch.

I think it's worth noting that we had by far the worst WR room in the league last year, and one of the worst offensive lines.

FA talent was slim pickings this year. We didn't have our first round pick. There aren't a ton of avenues to improve.

Trading for Dionte was an absolute miracle trade by Morgan. Getting XL at the end of round 1 is basically all you could ask for.

I'd still be ok if they draft another WR as well.

Ladd at 39 or Javon Baker later in the draft I'd be fine with

I think Bryce will be given every chance to succeed in an offense tailored to him.  But it's still going to be Canales offense.  It's still going to be an NFL offense.

On paper and in hope, everything looks much better out there for the wideouts. And let's not forget Thielen who still has it and was our steady performer even when opposing teams knew he was all we had. Heck, give that guy some breathing room and he'll turn out an even better year.

We need, need, need help at TE, though. That TE room is pretty mundane at best.

Better line, better receivers, better get some performance out of Bryce and we'll be better than before.

We did not set a high bar to jump over to count ourselves as "improved."

Nice observation on Thielen.  I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves.

Someone else has pointed out that Canales offense doesn’t appear to feature the TE in the passing game much.  If Canales wants a feature TE, I’m sure he will be whispering in Morgan’s ear about it.  Just my opinion.

well, I didn't feel we catered to his uniqueness going into last season at all.  And it went horrifically.  I largely feel the same way.  BUT, I'm not sure I want us investing into his uniqueness heavily at this point.  We should just be adding pure talent at his point.  I think we move on from Bryce in the near future.

I mean, I love Leggette's potential.  I wanted us to draft him.  I think Leggette frankly would pair up better with a Jake Delhomme style QB than a Bryce Young.
