Any corvette owners here?

Looking to purchase a fun little sports car particularly the c6 corvette. Just wondering what I should be prepared for besides the obvious expensive tires. Is the reliability something I should be concerned with?

I plan on turning it into my daily once my Camry gives out still 340k running pretty decent. I have a dually I basically use for towing and yard work. Always wanted a corvette, the c6 stands out the most to me and they look affordable. Just wanted to know if anyone has owned one or know what it's like to maintain one.

What other sports cars do you recommend?

Anything but a Corvette. It's just sooooo stereotypical.

And honestly, unless you drive very few miles you don't want to DD a legit high performance sports car. The maintenance will be a bitch. Parts are NOT cheap and they're designed from the ground up for performance not longevity and low maintenance. Everything wears a lot faster and is a lot more expensive to replace.

Yeah I'm doing some research on YT and the maintenance is a legit concern. My dually is my only car payment the rest of our cars are paid off.

I was just looking for a fun sports car to ride as a daily down the line. It would suck to be treating that car like another car payment because of the maintenance.

I'm still going to most likely get a sports car just not sure which one would give me the least headache as a daily.

Their was a Veyron in my two in Colorado. I would've rather had the Ford GT though. We lived half a mile off the highway and you could still hear that thing open up sitting in the living room watching TV. That was a badass car. You can have the Bugatti if I can have the GT. LOL

A Ford GT is probably my ultimate dream car. 1970 Chevelle 454SS Chevelle probably number 2A. 1969 Boss 429 Mustang number 2B.

I know where my 2B sits right now about three miles from here in a garage under a tarp. It's been there my whole life. They've probably fielded a thousand strong offers for it over the years and it still sits there. If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna knock on that door and not leave without the keys.

Friend of mine is/was active in the Corvette owner world for a while. Enjoyed the people and events immensely -- it's part of the fun vs just owning one and driving around.

He says to google "corvette forum c6 issues". You might see some things that could scare you off, but don't be. Biggest engine related issue is the harmonic balancer, and even that's not too scary. It's a reliable engine but c6 had some annoying gremlins that you can have fun fixing if you're so inclined. Recommend the early c7 if you can swing it vs the c6 -- it's lots more car for the money.

Thanks for the info.

I like the c7 as well, but it's out of my price range. I'm trying to stay under the 20k price range. I been watching videos on YT and the harmonic balancer was definitely the most major concern I have seen so far with the c6. I'm still going to look at all my options I want rush to make a decision.

I would never buy a car that old unless it was restomod. Not surprised he was stuck on the side of the road more than he was driving it.

Never got the project car builds either. I mean sure it's your work, but the money you will spend you probably would have been better off just buying a restomod. Saves you time and energy.
