Sports media does this every year they play favorites no different than fans. Most of it is just outside noise that will go away as long as he shows he is committed to football.

As for the difference to Bryce Young honestly you can chalk up most if not all of that to Alabama and Saban.

Make no mistake though teams are keeping tabs on Bryce Young's progress and that will have an effect on the likelihood of any QB's lacking basic physical traits going anywhere near the top 10 again.

BTW has anyone heard or read anything whatsoever about the S2?

Payton said the Saints had two “really good guards” in Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks who helped Brees climb the pocket and find throwing lanes. Payton has coached QBs of various heights and he knows how to help create throwing those lanes.

I think oftentimes, these guys are seeing through lanes, not necessarily over them. Certainly for some quarterbacks, that can be a little bit more challenging.”

Height is just a part of Bryce's physical concerns. Wilson had a cannon of an arm. Brees had a decent arm with some of the best accuracy of all times. Bryce has one of the weakest arms in the league and his accuracy looked run of the mill last year. That's gonna be a really tough row to hoe.

Yeah prime Wilson would have launched at least 6 or 7 deep balls on those scramble drills Bryce just tossed the ball out of bounds on. I still feel like that first Falcons game made him very aware of his velocity limitations against NFL db's

Height is all everyone here seems to be focused on.  Payton describes a process, and Bryce has not been through the process--they will factor his weaknesses and build around his strenghts--that is all Payton is saying.  His arm strength is what it is but his accuracy was never the issue at Bama.  Here, there are reasons for accuracy issues, such as throwing to covered WRs with a blitz in the face.  I am not predicting a miracle recovery, and maybe all we can get from him is what Miami got from Tua....but I want to see the process before writing him off.

I agree that Bryce's performance was very poor last year. But I deal with people in my line of work that attack the symptoms and ignore the central problem.  Maybe Bryce is the central problem, but maybe most good QBs would have failed miserably here last year.

Interesting.  I think JJ is going early but not sure I think he should.  5 sounds about right.
