Eagles Want Top 42 Pick For McNabb

Wow, I really didn't think it was that close to happening...

If we had some actual receivers beside Smitty, I would wonder if they'd take our first for him? I don't think it's worth it though unless a team feels if they upgrade the QB position, that would be the missing piece to take them to a championship...

No thanks at any of their QB's.

Although getting McNabb would probably guarantee us a spot in the playoffs, it would also guarantee us a first round exit as he's crumbles in big games. I'd rather stick with Moore, keep our second rounder, and end all talks of trading for a QB.

Plenty of QB's in free agency that are capable backups.

i'm glad to see that people are starting to realize that matt moore is our guy and that bringing in any other QB at this point in time would be detrimental to our team. i think our guys responded to moore leading the offense last year, and i think that with a little tweaking and lots of practice, our offense will be explosive this season. mcnabb is too close to over the hill for me. he might have three years left in him, and that's pushing it...

mcnabb>>>>>>>>>moore

mcnabb has always been the offense in philly. andy reid always goes to the pass happy offense in crunch time and always asked mcnabb to win it for him. he got the the nfc championship, wht, 3 straight years, and 1 SB appearance? give him our running game (something he has never had) and lets see how much better he can be. westbrook was a great back for them and in many ways their mvp (great reciever and returner), but he was not the equal of stewie and dwill together. both backs are not nearly as good as westbrook asa reciever, but between the tackles, both are much more better. here mcnabb would not be required to carry near offense load as philly (still had to get the ball to westrook out of the backfield), he would be option 3 to d will and stewie. i would love to have him for 3 years and 3 playoff appearances.

if we could cobble a decient DL and WR together with mcnabb dont you think we would be the odds on favorite to win not only the nfc south but the nfc race? it would pair the top rushing attack with a top 10 QB (imo top 5), not to mention a top 5 OL. if you want an explosive offense, he would help for sure. WR would still be mainly a 1 man band, but it worked for philly with TO (different scheme i understand). also it not inconcievable a better qb makes the wrs look better (jarrett.....).

that said, it will not happen, the team put a good bit of faith in moore at this point and i doubt they change all of a sudden. while mcnabb right now is a much safer bet, eventually we have to find a long term replacement. moore is the closest we have to that and all mcnabb does is give us a great 2-4 year span, moore could give us 6+ (if we sign him that long). while i think mcnabb takes us from a mid pack offense to top 5, as he can make ave wr look great, moore took us from mid pack to top 10 those last few games. if moore can do that and we can play defense like the last 5 games we got a chance to surprise the league next year at a cheaper cost than mcnabb. if moore flames out we will look like idiots for passing up mcnabb for the short term but we will atleast know we still must find a long term option at qb.

When I think of bringing in a vet like McNabb... I think to myself that if we are in that kind of need for a QB, there have been much better opportunities to bring someone in who is younger and can build the franchise around...

My only issue is investing a lot into McNabb on the downside of his career doesn't sit comfortably... I would have loved to have him in exchange for the Iggles years...

McNabb is a great quarterback and will make any team that picks him up better. However, McNabb is aging and past his prime, still demands more money than he is worth because his name exceeds his talent at this point in his career, and is just not a good fit in our system. Sure we would be a better team with him on the roster, but you could say that if T.O. was on our roster too couldn't you? The truth is, us picking up McNabb would be a horrible decision for the Panthers as Moore needs starting time to continue to improve, and we are trying to get younger as a football team. Neither McNabb, nor the Panthers are willing to have a big contract for a backup QB that still has a couple more starting years left. Having McNabb as a starter will be a setback for the future of the Panthers, regardless of how well we do in the first couple years. JR is not about winning now and dealing with stuff later. He wants a consistently good football team and at this point is pretty desperate to get it.

McNabbs contract is too big, no reason to think Richardson would want to take on one of largest contracts in NFL before new agreement. Eagles probably just soon clear their books with his contract by taking a 2nd rounder for him.
