Everyone's a critic...... so heres my criticism. I'd rather have Pearsall and/or McConkey but otherwise a damn good draft.

He didn't even work out the Combine because he had a Jones fracture.

was he at the Senior Bowl?  after that and the combine, I did searches for winners and losers from the combine, and he was listed on at least one site as being a "loser/ faller"

Corbett played some center in LA. I don’t know enough to say he is a bad choice or a good one. Maybe he is the guy it’s all fine. I think we react against it because we are uncertain.

Corbett hasn't played a snap at center during an NFL game. The only time he's been used at center was in camps and was quickly moved back to guard. The dude is not a center and trying to force him there will not bode well for the offense.

It will be such a Panther thing….

to of spent all this FA money at G….and not a have an average C on the roster which leaves the middle a mess in the end.

and I don’t think a 2nd round rookie is going to be an average starter year 1.  Especially as defenses come out playing Bryce the way they will at the gate

Yeah, trying to shoehorn Corbett at center is such a Panthers move. And it failing is even more of a Panthers thing.

There doesn't seem to be a of quality centers on the free agent market either. The only real hope the team is going to have is drafting a center and praying they he is an immediate hit. Sadly, they'll most likely miss out on the quality center prospects because of waiting/drafting other needs and have to stick with Corbett.

Nah. He was too much of an established player to be at the Senior Bowl---he's a legit first round talent, and he wasn't a senior.

Yeah, but it’s not fair expectations to draft a C and expect him to be NFL average out the gate though.  Especially, if it’s not some top tier first round prospect.

It's also not fair to expect a guy that's never been able to play center to suddenly get it and be good at the job either. And that's what the Panthers seem to be doing.

just saw this

  • Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, born Ga’Quincy, has had a busy spring full of pre-draft visits. Since earlier reported visits with the Jaguars, Buccaneers, Lions, and Packers, we’ve seen reported visits with four more teams. Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com tells us that McKinstry visited the Titans on Tuesday, and Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report informs us of visits with the Eagles, Giants, and Falcons, as well. McKinstry and his teammate, Terrion Arnold, have been extremely popular with the several teams who view cornerback as a position of need in 2024. McKinstry’s recovery from surgery on a foot fracture continues to heal nicely as he stays on track to return in time for his rookie season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.    https://www.profootballrumors.com/

looks like a lot of teams are comfortable with him

The Panthers would be a really good situation to put a rookie Center in. High level vet OGs and at least one probowl level tackle. They would all be learning a new offense, so there will be some growing pains there. Other than that, this would be a good time to get a young center that's ready to get significant playing time. Maybe not start day one. But should take over by game 6.

If I'm not mistaken Ryan Kalil started right away. If not, it was only a couple of games into his rookie season. It can happen with the right pick at center.

Best I member, kalil started at OG and for a couple games and was Zavala bad..... Then hartwig got a concussion or something and kalil moved to C?? Kalil was a born center and could not play any other NFL spot. They cut hartwig the next year after signing him to a big (at the time) contract.

It was a huge shock to Marty and crew that kalil was still there in the 2nd. Him and moose are about the only 2nd rounders that became ring of honor level players. They traded their 1st(revis) for beason(25th) and kalil 46(??).... nice deal for both, but I think jets "won" more.

Hence a great example of true BPA and things still work out. There's so much turn over in the NFL, its been proven over and over that BPA is the best method to building a winner. But rarely any teams follow it, when many speak about it. FYI morgan was the MLB when beason was drafted....
