Dwayne Jarrett Highlights as a Panther (Not a Hoax)

Ok maybe stats wise what I said is inaccurate. My point is when he has been on the field and needed to make a big catch he hasn't disappointed. That to me is more important then piling up receptions or yards. Dwayne pretty much sealed up the Arizona game for us in 08' date=' if he doesn't make that catch against the Saints in week 17 last year the drive doesn't continue. He had a couple of clutch 3rd down catches on our scoring drives against San Diego week 1 of 08. T.O. can rack up all the yards and TD's he wants but many times when the spotlight is the brightest and he has to have a catch he suddenly cant hold onto the ball. I don't see that being a problem thus far with DJ, could it be the lack of sample size, of course. However when he has been on the field and had a ball thrown his way (usually on third down) he has come down with it more times then not. Ricky Proehl didn't lead us in receptions or yards in our SB run but when we needed a big third down Jake knew he could count on him, thats the role I see Dwayne filling for Matt Moore next year. That to me is a better contribution then all the receptions and yards you can rack up.[/quote']

You're really milking these clutch catches for all they're worth. I think you're overrating those catches a good bit. He deserves credit for them but I'd rather have DJ put up 30-50 yards a game with a TD every now and then. To me actually making an impact every game is a lot more valuable than not playing for 3 and then making a nice catch.

When you have to choose between making clutch catches and marginal production then the guy isn't too good. Every "fact" I've heard is really just an excuse for Jarret's poor play and lack of production.

For all of his clutch catches he's had a ton a lot more sloppy routes and been dominated at the LOS.

Like I said I would much rather him take over a Ricky Proehl role where he is a guy MM can count on to move the chains then put up Boldin type numbers. If he does both its all good though. FWIW I predicted DJ to get 800-900 yards and 8-10tds next year and I'm sticking with it. Just my opinion though.
