Dwayne Jarrett Highlights as a Panther (Not a Hoax)

If this dude plays to his potential, he seems impossible to defend against. He's the type of receiver you want to throw a high ball to.

This is why Dwayne could and will be deadly in the redzone. Think of the fade that Warner and Fitz executed so well, thats what DJ brings. Other receivers on our team just don't have those physical gifts to do so.

People on here are going to be eating their words this time next year. Dwayne Jarrett is going to turn into the receiver everyone thought he would be all along with Matt Moore as his QB. The kid catches pretty much everything that gets in range of his hands he is going to be huge for us on 3rd down and in the redzone.

I wouldn't make anybody eat any crow because this isn't something like talking smack about the outcome of a game. It's not a crazy idea to consider Jarrett a bust. Nobody on here wants him to fail they just don't see any reason to feel encouraged by the results on the field.

For now I'm not hopeful about his future. If he starts playing well 2-3 games in a row I'll change my tune.

I'm talking about all the people writing him off when we have hardly anything to go by. Fact, the games he has started in he has made a pretty good contribution. He also has made some very clutch catches for us thus far in his career, despite rarely seeing the field for whatever reason. So yes those people who are saying he wont play well next year will be eating those words.

I don't really think that's factual at all that he's made a pretty good contribution. I think most people who say he's produced well in his limited chances are letting the Saints game distort their memories. I 100% agree that he's made some nice 3rd down catches. Here's a nice little post I put together a while ago.

in the games he's played in:

30 games

35 receptions

414 yards

11.8 avg

1 touchdown

1.16 receptions per game, 13.8 yards per game, .03 touchdowns per game

games he's started:

3 games

7 receptoins

56 yards

8 avg

0 touchdowns

2.33 receptions per game, 18.6 yards per game, 0 touchdowns per game

When he plays and Moore is at QB

5 games

5 receptions

68 yards

13.6 avg

1 TD

1 reception per game, 13.6 yards per game, .2 touchdowns per game

It's interesting to point out that all of this production came from the saints game, a game where the Saints rested their starters and had nothing to play for. All other game where the starters played he didn't produce at all. The tampa bay game of 07 didn't have the starters playing but he still didn't produce.

we're 13-17 when he plays, 1-2 when he starts.

San Diego 08, Arizona regular season (08 & 09) and the last saints game 09 are the only games where he has gotten over 20 yards and we have won. Any other game when he's produced we've been beaten by a healthy margin.

It's not being irrational or illogical to say he won't play well. It's a much larger stretch of the imagination to expect him to play well. I wouldn't fault anybody for expecting him to play poorly. Therefore I think it's petty to make somebody eat their words over a scenario that seems more likely than not.

Ok maybe stats wise what I said is inaccurate. My point is when he has been on the field and needed to make a big catch he hasn't disappointed. That to me is more important then piling up receptions or yards. Dwayne pretty much sealed up the Arizona game for us in 08, if he doesn't make that catch against the Saints in week 17 last year the drive doesn't continue. He had a couple of clutch 3rd down catches on our scoring drives against San Diego week 1 of 08. T.O. can rack up all the yards and TD's he wants but many times when the spotlight is the brightest and he has to have a catch he suddenly cant hold onto the ball. I don't see that being a problem thus far with DJ, could it be the lack of sample size, of course. However when he has been on the field and had a ball thrown his way (usually on third down) he has come down with it more times then not. Ricky Proehl didn't lead us in receptions or yards in our SB run but when we needed a big third down Jake knew he could count on him, thats the role I see Dwayne filling for Matt Moore next year. That to me is a better contribution then all the receptions and yards you can rack up.

I agree. I also think his stats will be better then most are predicting as well. Im guessing in 700-900 yard range 8-10 tds. Unless of course we bring in someone else.
