Canales on fixing Bryce's footwork

And let's say he does have the weakest arm in the NFL. Does that necessarily mean he has a weak arm? No. As long as he can make all the throws, his arm is strong enough. And it is.

Yes, it would mean that he has a weak arm for an NFL QB. That's literally exactly what that would mean. On the bell curve of NFL QB arm strength is at or near the bottom of that curve. I simply haven't seen this evidence that he can "make all the throws". People keep saying that and then I watch him fail to make the throws. Something isn't adding up here.

Right... don't know what I was thinking.

And a 3 time pro-bowler vet at that. Silly me...

It's not you. It's for all those that think it's somehow an indictment of Bryce. It's an indictment of how crappy that offensive system was.

Everyone had an opinion on how to get Young and the offense untracked. Some in the organization believed Young wasn’t getting deep enough on his dropbacks, causing some of the pass protection issues that resulted in a mind-boggling 62 sacks.
Canales said Young’s drops played “a little bit” of a role in the protection woes.

Dismissing Dalton's lone start with the same supporting cast same system same staff only to deflect for Bryce Young's is laughable.

You're coping right off a cliff guys.

Ok. Which throw did he fail to make - every time, because his arm was too weak?

So the weakest arm of all the starting pitchers in the MLB has a weak arm? Even though he can throw in the upper 80s or low 90s. He has a weak arm? You go up there and try to hit a 92 MPH fast ball and let me know how it goes. If you don't crap yourself in the batter's box. Then, you should just take that to the grave.

No, it's being honest.  The only coping is from those of you that want to blame all the ills of the team on one player when it was the entire team and staff that produced what you saw last season.  Bryce was part of it but not all of it. That is all I have said. If that bothers you then it is you that is coping by not considering every single issue on this team. It's much easier to blame everything on one player.

Yeah, no one has tried to act like Dalton looked like Mahomes in that game. It's just evidence that we did have the opportunity to have a vertical threat in our offense with a QB who could threaten a defense vertically. Bryce only had 26 20+ yard attempts on 16 games. Multiple games with zero. If you can't threaten a defense vertically NFL offense gets really difficult. It's why red zone offense is hard. You literally can't threaten vertically because there's not enough field there. Everything gets condensed. Bryce condensed the whole field regardless of where we were. We only had one game where we saw a different QB out there and I'm that game we threatened down the field a lot more. It is what it is. Yeah, I would've liked to have seen more than one example simply to have a better idea of whether or not it was just a fluke.

Who is dismissing it? Dalton balled out that game, particularly late. Would that game have been sustainable for a season is the real question. He took an A$$ whippin. Huge shots.

Kind of like when every one was so enamored with Devito his first couple of games. It wasn't sustainable.

His deep ball accuracy was terrible and I can't recall a single deep out he completed against good coverage.

It's all relative, man. You're trying to make a really dumb argument here. Every QB in the NFL or on a college roster for that matter has a strong arm in comparison to the entire human population but that's not what we're talking about about here. We're talking about NFL QBs.

So his deep ball inaccuracy was almost all OVERthrows, correct. That doesn't necessarily scream weak arm. Lack of touch, needed more air, yes. Lack of arm strength. No.

Deep out against GOOD COVERAGE. See how this becomes a subjective argument?

And I didn't think my argument was dumb. That's just mean Lin. Tried to think of another sport where the play revolves around throwing a ball. Guys get K'd on 80-90MPH pitches all the time. Just because a pitcher has the weakest arm in the majors, doesn't mean he can't put guys in the K box. Similarly, just like the MLB is the cream of the crop, so is the NFL. Bryce could have the weakest arm in the NFL, and still have a good enough arm.

I'm going to tell you the same thing I told the other guy. Nobody is doing this. Acknowledging the unfortunate realities of the full picture of Bryce Young's rookie season is not blaming him entirely for every bad thing that has transpired with the Carolina Panthers.

There's a world of middle ground between blaming him for literally everything and logging on here posting on his behalf like Craig Young. Maybe give that a try.

We're just gonna have to hope he's better this year. I think you've completely deluded yourself on what you saw last year.

I was wrong about Bryce. I've said it before. I had some concerns about his arm strength but I never dreamed it would be as bad as it was.

This whole debate is pointless as people have dug their feet in on their stances.  Let's just see how Bryce plays this year with some better talent around him.  If people want to see more of him or him in a competent offense, that seems more than fair.  If people have already made up their mind of him not being the guy then nothing is going to change that unless he can prove them wrong by playing better this year.

It would be nice to have a reasonable debate with it blowing up into some of this nonsense though...
