Canes vs Leafs 6pm

6 game points streak going. That’s good. Need our D and goalie play to bounce back. Good news is this looks on paper like a scheduled loss for the leafs. Played last night with Samsonov in goal which means we probably get their backup.

Toronto is gonna be no joke. We played the worst hockey we have in a long time against them in Toronto. I want to see a very conservative game tonight, we will create scoring chances especially with our additions throughout the game. We don’t always need to be trying for the flashy play or nice shot. Value puck possession and protect the blue lines.

It was a very physical and fast-paced game against Edmonton last night. A quick turn-around and back-to-back for Toronto. Yes, the Canes will see Woll (10-7-1) tonite. His save % is just above 90 and he and the Leafs both allow about 3 goals per game.

I'll admit I don't have a good feeling about this unless the Canes play a different game than they did against Washington.

If we don’t do what we did in Toronto I think we’ll be ok. Odd man rushes and neutral zone giveaways need to be curtailed.

Just realized we had 6 games in 9 days after the caps. 7 games in 11 days now. The canes were tired Friday and still got a point. I love this team and should be well rested for today. I’m liking us bigtime tonight.

No morning skate. Expect a slow start. 
 

And yes the league absolutely fugged us this month. Meanwhile the rags get 2.5 days off and no more back to backs. We have one more back to back but do have a 4 day and a 2 day off. Whereas the rags play every other day from tuesday on out.

Yes. Playing without fast is suicide in the playoffs. He is by far still the grindiest grinder we have and he’s crucial to the PK.

Him and Martinook were our best players in the playoffs last year. I’ll stand by that.

Personally, in the playoffs I’d go:

Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis

Svechnikov - Kuznetsov - Necas

Martinooo - Staal - Fast

Noesen - Kotkaniemi/Drury - Teravainen

Kotkaniemi and Drury can rotate and who knows how long Drury will even last. When the games get physical he usually gets hurt.

If Drury is centering a line I’d flip flop TT and Jarvis or even move Jarvis to Kuz and Necas to Drury. Both of those pairs have good chemistry. Can’t underrate that Finnish connection come playoff time man. 
 

That way if we need a boost in a series like Florida last time, we can push Jarvis up and create that flow change.
