Tebow's pre-Wonderlic prayer request falls flat

I'm a born again christian, not scared to admit it......but I do not push my religion on anyone else, and feel that sometimes I don't live my life to share my beliefs withs others......that would be highly hypocritical of me. But lets not bash peoples religion here....this is a football forum, besides this stuff should go to the tinderbox. Who really cares what religion you practice or believe in....this is about football! I happen to be very good friends with 2 muslim guys at my work, and we know we have our religious differences, but that doesn't stop us from hanging out going to games, bowling etc. they are just like 2 ordinary guys. being a christian is all about having compassion and not trying to go around shoving religion down peoples throat, despite what you see on t.v. it gets to be too much sometimes, but i never question my faith.

It's good that you're like that, but for every one of you there is another that is pushy about it... even inside churches there are people who look down on others because they don't do as much or attend as much... I've seen it first hand.

I don't think Christianity has any more assholes per capita than the rest of society, they just tend to stick out more in a lot of situations.

It's because Christians are -- and should be -- held to a higher standard than the rest of society. If you profess to be a follower of Christ, then you've got to live by those teachings every day. Of course, that's an incredibly hard thing to do -- but you certainly can't just routinely go to church every Sunday and then act like an asshole the rest of the week. This is why I was at one point so disgusted with Christianity.

Then I realized I didn't have any hate for the religion, just the hypocrites whose actions didn't coincide with their beliefs.

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Thats the hardest thing to do.....walking the walk. i mean, its a struggle everyday, but i try to do my best. not just in christianity, but probably in ALL religions. i will probably never live up to my own standards, but i'm cool with that because i know i atleast try......i'm sure each religion has its own ups and downs....its hard to keep the faith hanging around people from the huddle.......lol ;)

2 Kings 2:23-24:

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Truth? lol... TRUTH?

I guess truth is subjective now...

Please, show me one thing ever penned by Jesus' hands...

How 'bout the truth that this story was apparently made up? (PFT)

I don't want The Golden Calf of Bristol on the Panthers, but the story sounded fishy when I heard it. Now The Golden Calf of Bristol himself says that he said no such thing and gave names of other people who were in the room that can back him up.

And honestly, while I'm not a Florio basher, it wouldn't be the first time something untrue made it onto his page.

I was referring to scpanther22's response about his signature...

I don't care if the The Golden Calf of Bristol thing is madeup or not, as I made my point about athletes thanking higher powers in general...

About that, what's the big deal? You act like it somehow hurts you.

I don't care if a guy rolls out a Muslim prayer rug on the sideline. So what?

Some guys thank God. Some guys thank their moms. Some guys thank themselves. Freddie Mitchell thanked his hands.

Heck, I see UFC fighters thank Jesus after bashing a guy's brains in. I find it odd, but it's not like it hurts me.

How does any of this affect you or me to the point it's such a big deal?

I don't think it "hurts" me as much as it amuses me... I see it as my duty to try and wake people the fug up to their own absurd belief system.... sorry...

You might not care if a guy rolls out a rug, but I can pretty much assure you that if it happened, most of the same hypocrites here defending Timmy T's right to pray would not jump to the defense of the said Muslim...

This is the hypocrisy of "Christians" today... You can have all the rights you want as long as nothing takes away from your Jesus stuff...

It is the same as an actor accepting an award and thanking God... It is nothing more than appealing to the masses... What about the people that didn't win? Did God just decide to poo on them for the day?

"Thank God for picking me to win in this situation over someone else..."

Yeah... That's what a just and loving God would be all about, right?

A person's mom, a receiver's hands, the Academy, etc. are all tangible things... Not an idea thought up to define something that cannot be defined without an extraordinary imagination...

Freddie Mitchell's hands weren't all that tangible.

Everything you say here is based in your belief system, which sounds like it doesn't have a whole lot of respect for the beliefs of others. On the one hand, you mock the beliefs of others, then disparage Christians for what you perceive as looking down on the beliefs of others. This doesn't strike you as a tad hypocritical?

And I seriously doubt anyone else who's posted here would have an issue with a Muslim praying. Heck, the Panthers already had a Muslim player, and I don't recall anyone ever making an issue of it.
