Tebow's pre-Wonderlic prayer request falls flat

Why can't he just pray for himself? That I have no problem with -- it's just not cool that he tries to include others in it.

Yep. Tim, there's no reason for you to attempt to be a leader in that situation. If you want to pray, pray, but let others focus.

The Golden Calf of Bristol says it didn't happen, and that he has backup (PFT)

"Not one single word of it is true," The Golden Calf of Bristol told me.

The Golden Calf of Bristol has a very genuine and disarming way about him. There's a innocence and kindness in his voice that conflicts with the image of a highly successful college quarterback, who was arguably one of the best college football players of all time.

He was nevertheless firm and resolute in his denial.

"One of the number one things for me is being someone of character and when I say something people can take it to the bank," The Golden Calf of Bristol said. "That story is absolutely not true."

The Golden Calf of Bristol then named several of the other players who were in the room, and he invited me to check his version with each of them.

The Golden Calf of Bristol explained that he said nothing to the group of roughly 100 players, and he said that he spoke only to BYU quarterback Max Hall.

After talking to The Golden Calf of Bristol, I immediately contacted the source for the story, who agreed with my assessment that The Golden Calf of Bristol is "the real deal." But the source didn't back down.

It's possible that The Golden Calf of Bristol made a comment intended for Hall that was overheard by another player, who then made a profane comment in response that was not heard by The Golden Calf of Bristol. Still, Sexton told me in a follow-up e-mail that The Golden Calf of Bristol "never said anything remotely close" to what had been attributed to him.

Florio is sticking by his source, but who know what his "source's source" is.

Given that PFT is the only sports outlet where I've seen this story (and knowing their rep for printing stuff without full substantiation) I'd hedge on buying this one. Honestly, it does sound made up.

I've always wondered how the pitcher that was praying to that same God felt.

When athletes point to God after a home run or a TD, it's generally a sign of thanks for the strength and skill that allowed them to accomplish it. And, turns out this isn't story true anyway, so you haters can relax and find something else to bash the guy about.

...yes, because hard work, determination, and good DNA have no influence on the strength and skill required to accomplish goals on the field of athletic battle...

They feel it more important to point up and thank an imaginary being that lives in the sky...

Of course, appearing religious on the outside while being a complete douche of a person has no benefits at all...

Smitty points to the sky a lot, but I wonder if he thanked God when he pounded on a couple teammates' faces?...

Thus, the hypocrisy of religion intertwines its way into yet another area where it has no place...

I would have told The Golden Calf of Bristol to "shut the f**k up" too because, if God had any bearing on the Wonderlic, why the hell do people like Chris Gamble fail it miserably and go on to be successful on the field?

If he's such a preacher's boy and loves God so much, why doesn't he give up his pursuit of millions of worldly dollars and dedicate his life to his cause?

I don't really care if the story is true or not, because honestly, I could imagine it really happening...

The Golden Calf of Bristol is a joke... as are those so in love with him...

Some feel there are higher powers at work, some don't. No need to bash or disrespect either one.

Maybe because he love football since he was a boy & they make good money. Not everyone who love God (including me) give up some money to dedicate their life for their cause.

I don't really care if the story is true or not, because honestly, I could imagine it really happening...

The story is not true though. The site took the comments out of content. And you imagine it could happend? Just like some believing in God? ;)

Real classy there with calling other who are in love with him as a joke. You're no different with being in love with a greedy player name Pep & was so sure he was going to stay. I thought atheists are suppose to be good people & not be hateful like some extreme religious people are.

But thank again for bashing me & other who believe in God when you don't as always. I guess it ok for atheists to bash people's belief, but they don't think religious people should bash them for not being a believer in return? See a pattern there??
