NFLDraftBible.com reports the Carolina Panthers are scheduled to hold a private workout with Tarelton State PK Garrett Lindholm Friday, March 26.

-----------------------

Lindholm made a 64yd FG to tie a playoff game last season as time expired..

Not as impressive, but impressive none-the-less, he also hit a 55-yd FG his freshman year to win a game as time expired.

In 2009, Lindholm was 15-of-18 in field goals and he kicked off 77 times for 4,884 yards, an average of 63.4 yards per kick. He has 22 touchbacks and was 43-of-45 in extra point attempts.

What that tells me is he has a massive leg, he is accurate, and most importantly, he is clutch.

I believe we could bring this guy in as a UDFA. I suppose they weren't too impressed with Tiffin at the Bama' Pro day.

To give you guys an idea of his leg strength.. Rhys Lloyd kicked an average of 63.7 yards per kickoff for the Panthers in 09'. So Lindholm is right up there.

Ummm, that's not true at all.

Llyod averaged 67.8 in '08 and 66.7 in '09.

Lindholm's average of 63.4 would put him in tied 29th out of 49 in the league for average kick off. Which is rank average and thus not a 'big' leg after all.

Well, a quick scan shows he is not even listed on many draft site rankings and the one good one that did had him ranked #32 of the kickers with only the top three expected to get drafted.

I'm thinking we wouldn't hand over Kasay's job to a guy like that in 2010 but I can certainly see him getting a shot at kickoffs if he impresses at camp.

I wish you guys the best of luck with finding a Kicker. It seemed last year was the year to not be a Kicker. I know when the Ravens moved on from Stover and had a kicking battle last pre-season between Steve Hauscka and Graham Gano, a lot of Ravens fans including me wanted Gano to win out. Instead Hauscka(who by the way looked more like a high school player than an NFL player) cost the Ravens a game against the Vikings, and even missed an extra point in Cleveland. It took us until we got Billy Cundiff for the Ravens to have a good solid kicker. Of course by the time they got rid of Steve, Gano was in the UFL(in which he kicked a 63 Yard game winner in the UFL Championship) and Stover was wearing a Colts uniform. I just hope you guys make the right decision on getting a new kicker and don't have to go through what we went through in finding a Kicker.

We've got to have a kickoff guy... and as much as I like Kasay, if he can't do both KO and FG, he needs to go.

Really Im not sure why we dont try out some punters. IMO Baker has been less then impressive the last few years. Really how many punts has he shanked and put into the end zone come pared to how many FG Kasay has missed.

I like that he was able to come through in the clutch with some pretty huge kicks.

However, I think they need to take a look at Leigh Tiffin from Alabama. He's projected to be a 5th-6th rounder and is an outstanding kicker.(30 of 35 FG's made in 2009)
