I hit a career wall today

Not sure what happened but maybe a culmination of things. I hit a wall. My job is EXTREMELY challenging and on one hand I like it.

But, so many other passions are gnawing at me. From writing screen plays to coaching to going into radio to working for a think tank. At times there are so many things I love and are pretty good at and can't decide.

I had a one on one with my boss and while she was doing her job I felt like I was 14 yrs old after I got finished.

Maybe I need a spring break road trip.

Your posts has parallels with those of Charlottenian's where he complains about how he can't decide which luxury car to get his dad to buy him, or which worn out cougar to bang in his aerobics class :D.

Seriously though, while the thinking is that "at least you've got a good job," I know from experience that that's not always enough. Hopefully you're able to transition over to one of your more fulfilling opportunities sooner than later. Good luck.

I prefer alternative planet instead of parallel.

Since I own an old suv and one decent family car.

Yeah, I'm ready to rock and roll and get more into some passions in life. I do alot of stuff on the side anyways. So I gotta be smart with all that I do.

I've become quite disenfranchised with my work the last few months. I'm very happy to have a job, but it doesn't interest me. Granted, there's plenty of room for growth if I want it.

I fantasize all the time about the screenwriting lifestyle, but I know there's no way I'm going to jump right into it. I'll have to continue writing while working my 9-5 and hope I can work a script into the hands of someone that matters, first. I have a few scripts I'm currently working on that I think have potential.

Good stuff bb. I learned when I left Wachovia a few years ago and did some small biz advising to add to the cache that no matter how talented you are etc, you need an anchor job(bread and butter) to keep funds coming in and do what you love until that can become the bread and butter.

No doubt. Sometimes I make up excuses not to write when I get home after a long day of writing, but I have time just like everyone else. If I want to make it happen, I just have to suck it up and use what little time I've got outside of work to write.

Hey, have you heard of Script Frenzy, which challenges participants to write a full screenplay during the month of April? I've gotten away from writing for a bit, and this may be just the thing I need to get me going again (if I can stick with it, of course).
