I hit a career wall today

Not sure what happened but maybe a culmination of things. I hit a wall. My job is EXTREMELY challenging and on one hand I like it.

But, so many other passions are gnawing at me. From writing screen plays to coaching to going into radio to working for a think tank. At times there are so many things I love and are pretty good at and can't decide.

I had a one on one with my boss and while she was doing her job I felt like I was 14 yrs old after I got finished.

Maybe I need a spring break road trip.

I hit a career wall today to. Well, actually I bumped into the wall at work when I wasn't watching where I was going. :)

Fwiw, I feel that way a lot. But until my son graduates college, I am not going anywhere. But when he does, I want to get a job with the Park service, even if its a volunteer job.

I have an aunt and uncle who did that. Retired early, and now travel the country as wardens for various parks.

Passion vs. Responsibility...I think you could sum up a large portion of life in that way.

Good luck, brotha.

Just on curiosity, what would you go into radio for? Talk show or disc jock? And what kind of show, either genre or topic?

Hang in there, man... It could always be worse...

I want to get into Sports Talk, if you couldn't tell.

Podcast.

Check out www.libsyn.com and www.podcastdirectory.com or www.podcastalley.com in order to get started. After that, it all depends on being able to build an audience and standing out from the masses. Also, check out www.sportsjournalists.com for some decent starting points on breaking into sports talk and the occasional good contact to use.

At least, that's how I started on it.

Four words apply.

Show me the money.

The job is an end to a means, only.

Unless you're the owner of the company, that's it.

I'm trying to network more with this one group. They sponsor and market for MLB. Ahh. If I can get in over there. Would be be u ta ful. I would more or less get paid to watch MLB and just work on those relationships.

Could get the creative itch scratched and the business side covered as well.

yeah I have also kinda of hit a wall, actually I am just bored. I stay within the top 20 in sales in the state of Virginia, so I know my job is safe, but I just feel like it has all become to routine and want to go into something more fulfilling.

I believe I would do that for free.

That sounds like fun.

I was thinking about moving up to Pennsylvania or Virginia, and getting a job at one of the national military parks if they will pay me, or volunteering at one of the local ones if they wont pay me.
