This means nascar is losing fans that used to watch! Why are people leaving the sport? For those who have been watching for years what has changed?? Is it the drivers?? I know the impact Dale and Dale Jr. had on the sport, but is there no other drivers that can bring fans into the stands like them??

There are no personalities that stick out right now. Most of the drivers have the metrosexual look, they act pretty much alike (except for Jr., Waltrip, and Kyle Busch), and their driving styles are all bland. Does anyone remember the old phrase "rubbing is racing"? Well, we don't see much rubbing anymore. I'm glad that NASCAR is a much safer sport now, but we don't see the crashes and banging like we used to. The attitude is gone. That's what drove a lot of the fans away. Today's NASCAR is much more similar to Indycar racing.

Personally I think a lot of it had to do with the death of the greatest icon the sport had ever known. Once he passed then things picked up for the short term but overall it's been down. People tuned in to see what's next in a way and held no interest. Between that and moving dates from the South, more of your Southern fans just shut the door on it. With the Chase, and the similiarities of the cars, it ain't what it used to be. jmo

I'll always watch.

Regardless, I'm one of those, they can kick me and i'll still watch.

This.

Earnhardt's death drove some fans away, the kick in the ass to NASCAR's original fanbase drove a lot away as well. No more Rockingham, N. Wilkesboro, only one Darlington race (and it ain't on Labor Day anymore). NASCAR's original fanbase doesn't want to watch when most of the tracks look alike now. We have way too many 1.5 mile speedways that look and feel too much alike when seen on tv. Charlotte, Atlanta, Kansas, Texas, Chicagoland, Michigan, and others look like pretty much the same track. They took away too much of NASCAR's originality. It's not the "good ol' boys" sport anymore. I still watch, but I'm not into NASCAR like I used to be. And after Bristol was resurfaced, it has become a very boring track.

Right now, immediately, it's because people are tired of seeing the same guy win over and over and over and over.

Gordon won 13 races in one year and dominated.

Petty won 10 in a row one year.

Earnhardt dominated back in his day.

Cale won three championships in a row.

I don't think it's because one guy is constantly winning. This has happened many times and the sport still thrived. But yes, I'm sick of seeing Jimmie win week after week.

Oh I don't think he's cheating, because they check the cars. I think they know something on how to get that car to be faster though. Nascar just hasn't caught on. I just don't see fancy driving from JJ, just a fast car honestly. So technically not cheating, but something is up.

for you to say that..... proves to me you haven't been a fan too long.......or your just stupid.

I'm gonna go ahead and edit what i originally told you to do. Your ignorance is annoying. I'll leave it at that. But yeah, I don't think YOU'VE been a fan too long if you don't know how this works.

Been a fan well over 25 years. This goes in cycles. Petty, Earnhardt, Waltrip, Gordon, Junior Johnson, Jimmie Johnson, they all dominated in cycles.

I got your stupid right here.......

    • I think a lot of wrs are going to go in the second round before we pick.  There are a lot of wr needy teams.  I think there will be a big run on them in the late 30s and 40s.
    • Interesting that they met with Walker three times and Cam Jackson twice.
