It's the end of Day 1 of the NFL draft for your Panthers and...

... Golden Tate OR Carlos Dunlap are still on the board. You have about 21 hours til the start of Day 2, do you offer the Rams or Lions next years first rounder to get Mr. Tate or Dunlap ahead of the Redskins. Consider that if either were avaliable this year and you had a first rounder you probably would have picked either up, or at least Tate. Of course, you could chose just to hold steady in round 2, but could you truly pass up two prospects that you probably would have picked up with your first round draft choice anyways?

As far as Tate goes, I think passing the Bucs @ 35 is more of a play than the Skins. If Tate's still available after that pick, then the logical tradeup spot for WR would be SD @ 40 or BUF @ 41, cause TB would most likely address WR @ 42 if they go DT @ 3 and DE @ 35. You'd also have to deal with the likelihood of NE addressing WR with one of their 2 picks in between 41-48, and Denver possibly going WR @ 45. If SD gets Cody and BUF has their eyes set on Thomas/Joseph, they might be receptive to grab an extra pick. SD could trade down as well if they took Cody at 28 and someone snatches Matthews before 40. Hardesty would probably be there @ 48.

If you wanted Dunlap, then you'd likely have to make the play to get up to 33/34.

Wouldn't trade the 1st. Who knows how valuable those picks will be under the new CBA. You could get a rookie first rounder in the new CBA for a fraction of what you could get a first rounder now. I have a feeling rookie picks are going to be EXTREMELY valuable in the future. Hold on to them and hope Tate falls. If he doesn't...like someone else said maybe Arrelious Benn or Mardy Gilyard will be there.

If we trade up, it'll be with the Chiefs at #36 and it will be for Tate, Dunlap, or Weatherspoon...

The Chiefs have the least to lose by sliding down, and would likely jump at the chance to add another first rounder next season...

The problem is that the Bucs are at #35, and could take anyone we are targeting... So don't look for that trade to happen until the Chiefs are on the clock...
