I went with a 20" hd monitor, but you can get whatever you want.

I bought one I could play games on. I mostly just play The Sims, though.

I was told to stay away from ASUS. Their customer support sucks.

I just hate seeing people buying more computer than they need while they chase specs that have little bearing on what they will use the machine for.

thats why i posed the question. I know nothing about building computers and such and wanted some opinions. instead of being an arrogant douche:D u can help me out.

I would build your own. At least give us your budget so we can put together a build for you.

The man hours are not costly. It took me 3 hours to build my first one and about 1 hour to build the next one. This is factoring in installing windows, drivers, and setting it up on the desk etc. Unless you work 16 hours a day 7 days a week the time won't be an issue.

If you're even the least bit handy you will be able to do it. If you played with lego's as a kid you can do it.

Whatever computer you're looking to buy just name the price and see if we can't beat it with a build.

At the lowest end of the price point around 500 dollars it gets harder to beat the price of a dell or computer from best buy because they usually include the keyboard, mouse, windows, and monitor with it. However, the comp you build for 600 dollars will be more than 20% better.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.345227

this is the case and PSU I selected as a combo since it saves money, I can't add it to the wishlist for some reason. It's about 120 bucks.

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=18290888

heres the wishlist I made really hastily.

The total cost of this build with the HD monitor, keyboard & mouse, speakers, and PC is $936.00 bucks. It's 15% more expensive but it will be a lot more than 15% better. You also have the benefit of not having all the crap that best buy or dell puts on your computer. Also the warranties are WAYYYY better because you bought each component individually instead a pre-built. The warranties are at usually 3 times as long and some are lifetime.

I based this off of gaming PC build that can be overclocked so I'm going to work on this a little more to get the price down since you aren't going to overclock or a serious gamer. I should be able to get it below or very close to $800.00 I just need more time to look at components.

thanx for your help. ill probably go with a prebuilt comp for now.

when you get the prebuilt check the wattage on the power supply and the expansion slots and then ask which card you should get.

Nvidia is releasing new line of video cards this summer I think. I would wait for that release to push prices down before getting a video card.
