Ian Thomas getting Restructure

He’s not good, but in all reality it’s not the end of the world. Hurst is gone so still need TE depth and can take a mid or late round rookie so can move on from him next year and possibly Tremble too if he develops nicely. We were never going to turn this thing around in one off season.

is he taking a cut or renegotiating the terms moving money to the back end?

I'm not sure, but unless Morgan is already talking out of both sides of his mouth, he said no kicking the can down the road. If tacking on a year while saving money overall is the move, then I can live with that.

Like mike kaye just talked about on Locked on.  I dont understand pushing the money down the road, just suck it up this year with the cap and get out from under these shitty deals.   Pushing down the road just hinders us when we may need it.

Did we not recently (over the past few years) reduce a contract and then cut the player later?   I know we did, I just can't recall who it was.  I was thinking WR?

Point:  You can reduce the contract's overall amount, including guaranteed money.  If you make the team, you earn the next contract.  If you do not, the team has less dead cap.  It only works if the player has a "bird in the hand" situation.

I get it, but if Thomas got cut then that left Tremble and Sullivan as our TE room.  Talk about thin! I'm all about Morgan firing shots across these dude's bows, but then there is completely spiting yourself and having your butt flapping in the wind.

I could go to walmart right now and find 5 dudes (and 1 woman) that would be a better TE than thomas

You have to try and field a competitive team or it kills the desire of everyone on the team that is trying to win. You have to get cap room to bring in free agents and sign your draft picks. Should we do a ton of restructuring? Depends for who and how much. Should we restructure Moton somewhat. Yeah and add on a few years and maybe a voidable year to lower the cap since we plan to keep him. Will that hurt us down the road? Not unless Moton falls apart or has a career ending injury. The old one size fits all approach never works. You have to evaluate every situation individually and intelligently.0

You definitely couldn't, but after 6 years of watching Ian Thomas play football I'm willing to try.

Go get them fitted for pads.

    • More TDs last year in less games (double the TDs) and more yards per game. Those are some tough stats to brush aside. Career stats are good but we are wanting the player for what they are currently. DK had some drop issues too.
    • I’m going with Nick Emmanwori as the pick right now. Charlie Campbell has him ranked 5th on his post combine big board and another safety is needed.
    • That is ridiculous on several levels. First of all you have to spend 90% of your cap space every year so the idea you can just not spend it every year is against the CBA. Secondly your job is to assemble the best team you can for the fans players and team. Not to save money for the owner.  Third many players who are considered great underperform while others like Luvu and Jackson have overperformed. What about a  great player like Derek Brown who was injured and missed all of last year. Was he a waste of money?? Sure pay DK a fools ransom and hope he stays healthy. He didn't even get 1000 yards last year which averages out to 60 yards a game or play all 16 games.  And lets be real, Jones and Watson aren't  great but they aren't being paid that much either. Real glad you aren't the GM.
