We got market value because they only looked at it as the numbers standpoint from the draft chart, but half those picks were never going to pan out, and the best pick was at the end of the 2nd round

Never should have traded CMC for anything less than a 1st, he’s the best weapon in football.  Mid to late round draft picks isn’t going to replace that, we needed 1 impact player in return if we were going to trade him at all (which we shouldn’t have).

Agreed. This whole “equivalent to a 1st” compensation is some of the dumbest sh!t I’ve heard them try to sell us

My problem is that they aren’t looking ahead during any deal they’re making. When they were trading CMC they knew the Baker/Darnold thing wasn’t the answer. They knew they’d be looking to trade up for a QB/the scouting of Bryce, etc was already beginning with a trade up in mind.

The only thing that came from that trade was SF’s 2nd so we could keep our 2nd where’d we’d ultimately draft a 3rd round (at best) player in Mingo.

Now Dan Morgan did the exact same thing with Burns. I was hopeful he had another deal in mind when he accepted a 2nd and two 5th’s but that’s clearly not the case. Chances of this group hitting on pick 39 are slim. By “hit” I mean an average player. The two 5th rounders are throw away picks. I’m sure they use them to trade up in round 4 or some crap on a player they’ll cut 2 years from now.

Top to bottom this organization is full of morons and the last however many years of misery us fans have suffered through is all the proof you need

I personally think the supposed "trade value chart" is pretty fuging stupid and pointless.  Not all things are in a vacuum and each situation is different.  So yes I agree with you,  we didnt net a first round pick for cmac.

You are aware that if the 49ers put him on the block tomorrow and wanted a 1st they would likely have very few if any offers, right?

I think the thing missing from people's minds is what just happened this offseason. Almost every team in the NFL let their elite RB walk.

That's not an accident. I don't know how much more the NFL needs to telegraph the current value of RB's....

See we did alright with Burns

We did similar as the Commanders did with Sweat and both players are similar with Sweat being better against the run and Burns being slightly better at rushing the passer.

CMC isn't any other elite RB, he's the best weapon in the NFL, there's a reason he won offensive player of the year.

I'd bet at least a dozen teams would be willing to give up their 1st round pick for him, especially if it was the same contract situation at the time of the trade, as we had to take the hit on his signing bonus that we already paid out, there was not much guaranteed money (if any) left on CMC's deal when the 49ers took him on.

It was a TERRIBLE trade, no if's, and's, or but's about it

Well said and 100% agree. Even worse we made that trade to the 49ers, whoever one knew was going to be one of the top five teams at the end of the season, which significantly hurt the value of those picks

The best weapon in the NFL is elite QB talent.

Offensive player of the year or Super Bowl champion? Which one you choosing?

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
