Donovan McNabb

King Taharqa

Recommended Posts

..has been the best QB in the league since he was benched in Week 12 (he's won 5 of 6 since then). Its almost unbelievable to think people were calling him "finished" or said it was time for the Kevin Kolb era in Philly. During his last 4 games he completed 63% of his passes, threw for 886 yards, 9 TDs and 1 INT to give Philly a playoff birth when most left them for dead. Yesterday he put up 300 yards & a TD in a tough road game against Minnesota. I know Philly is a tough place to play, and Donovan has had some bad games, but he's has always seemed to be a magnet for criticism as a QB and leader. I think the job he's done the past few weeks has only added to his legend and helped solidify him as the 3rd best QB of this decade behind Manning & Brady.

im not really sure how to respond to this thread.

i agree McNabb is a great QB. i would even put him at the #3 QB of the decade; hell even the best QB in the history of the team. he has gotten a lot of criticism, yes, and as a philly fan, i think it was warranted at times. but i have grown tired of the poor pitiful donovan act he puts up. it annoys me how he acts like no one likes him and hes always picked upon.

suck it the fug up and play football don. you're an awesome QB and if you keep playing well, you wont have to worry about kevin klob.

I do agree King, and I would (sounding like a homer here), say Jake is a lot like Donovan, as far as experience and leadership, I will say that Mcnabb is the better athelete (without question). I have often wonderd if McNabb had a Smitty, Fitz, or Moss to go to, what would his career have been like.

spare me the "McNabb is great" tributes. next week you'll want his head when he sucks up the field. Also, he should be thanking mr westbrook. Donovan did nothing against the vikings. The D and 1 westbrook screen won that game.

he is mr. excuse..... i threw up during the superbowl... the pats cheated, blah blah blah. Donovan could have been great. But his inconsistant play, lack of game knowledge(didnt know a game could end in a tie), and his lack of a great wide receiver will keep him from ever ranking in the elite qb status.

These are similar arguments made against our QB to discredit his accomplishments. "Smith bails him out/he's nothing without #89", "he lost in the Super Bowl", "he cant win without a top 5 running game" etc. etc. I do agree the only reason people dont consider Donovan "elite" is because of a lack of an "elite" WR on Philly, but I think thats more on management than Donovan. I will say if Donovan is not elite then really there's only 2 elite QBs in the league. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady because those are the only 2 this decade who have passed for more yards, TDs, and had more success than him.

I will say I agree with that assessment.

You have some guys like Brees, Rivers and possibly Cutler who have shown the ability and/or promise to be elite but haven't sustained it long enough to do so. But other than the top two, it's really a mosh pit.

Nope.

Rivers has been the best QB in the league since week 12. No question.

Rivers has been balling his ass off and I wont argue with you too much about picking him. I will say Rivers put his #'s up against Denver, Oakland, Kansas City, and a fading Tampa team. None of those are playoff teams. Donovan did it against Arizona, New York, Cleveland, Washington, & Dallas. His wild card weekend performance was better than Rivers too.

stats are one thing, but you also have to look at the team they are on. McNabb plays on and has played on a horrible run team. This usually means his pass yards will be inflated. Teams with great run games usually have qb's with lower stats. The Giants and Panthers for example. Especially for the Giants, they are a slow scoring, ball control team. You wont see great stats when they take several minutes to score. I'll take a qb that can manage the game instead of one that has 'stats'.

Indy, no 1 pass d in the league.

Atlanta, no slouch

Oakland, very good pass d

KC, Denver, I can give you that, but not Tampa, at Tampa.

13 TD, and 1 int is more than balling, that is owning the league.
