Fox &Hurney Draft history/ trends

One trend I've noticed is the tendecy to switch tge first pick from offense to defense each year...peppers, gross, gamble, Davis (the only time it was back to back defense), Williams, beason, stewart/otah, and brown.

That would make this year an offensive year...and I doubt we pick a RB, TE, or OL. QB is very unlikely...so it looks like it will be a WR.

Other than running backs the trend is a lack of experience picking up new offensive players...at least ones worth noting. No real investments in WR or QB and up until recently TE, and still not much there. Panther's are simply a straight up run team, which is a traditional way of coaching that is soon starting to fail more and more. Passing is a must now days, I hope someone on the Panther's team (obviously not fox) can scout some offense.

In the Fox and Hurney era we have done a great job at drafting great offensive linemen and defensive players. Since 2003 we have drafted 13 o linemen Only two have never started a game, that is bruce nelson from 2003 who had injury problems and Rashad Butler who has also had problems but still might be able to do something. Also Duke Robinson hasnt started but I wont include him yet because I think it will take him another year to do anything in the NFL. Evan Mathis, Joe Berger, Geoff Hangartner, are starting for other teams. Mathis is one player that I was really surprised we let go considering where we drafted him and how much he was praised going into the draft. Offensive line is where our bread and butter is in the draft. Here lately we have made some great picks in tight ends and defense. Our weakness however is finding a Qb or wide reciever. Now who should we give credit to for our great finds in the draft, the scouts who scouted them or the coaches who trained them? also anyone remember how we got rid of our scouts a few years ago and ever since we have been finding gold in the draft?
