i'm also all for nick goings getting some recognition, he really was an all around great teammate and did everything he could to help the team, and he could do a lot.

Nick Goings was a solid all-around player... and constantly gave teams fits.. What do you think about the late Fred Lane?

How about Lamar Lathon? He was one of that three-headed beast (along with Kevin Greene and Sam Mills) that used to murder guys like Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin.

That was a terrorizing defense! 2/3 should be in the HOF (Greene & Mills).. imho

A lot of great names/solid players on this list! Glad to see my boy Rocket get some love! Yep, Wesley Walls is a classic example of the type of player that a lot of people don't know about...or forgot about for that matter!

Definitely Nick Goings, Brad Hoover and Mike Minter, along with a certain special teams player whose name eludes me at the moment - last I saw of him he was released by the Raiders in 2008. He was famous for getting to the return man before the ball did. Can anyone help me out?

And some older guys that we seem to have forgotten - Mark Carrier, Eric Davis, Wesley Walls, Anthony Johnson, Dan Morgan, Ricky Proehl -these guys all had significant roles in the Panthers' best seasons.

edit: How could I forget Michael Bates

another edit: Rocket Ismael does not belong here. He had a good season on a very bad team.

Last edit: If anyone deserves recognition for a single good season: Patrick Jeffers.

Lane was exciting to watch. However, I think his personal demons negatively affected the team well before his murder.

There are a lot of "obscure" players that fans of this team love, but I've got to exclude a few players I feel came here too late in their career to really be considered true Panthers.

That being said: Kevin Greene, Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Mark Fields, Brad Hoover, Muhsin Muhammad.

    • After the Chiefs game a 6'5 X would really help in the Red zone. I would also love to add Slayton in FA
    • But again, you can restock a defense through free agency much easier than offensive skill positions. Spend all our cap space on defense, take a true elite prospect who also happens to fit a position of need in T-Mac, and then use the rest of our picks on defense. Again, every season there’s a smattering of great DL, LB, and DB options in free agency, a Top 10 WR never hits free agency, ever.  The only way you get one is through the draft or giving up 1st round picks in a trade for one. If he’s there when we’re on the clock, he has to be the pick, he’s just that good.
    • It must be an early Christmas for JT O'Sullivan having Thielen back so he could put a coal in Thielen's stocking every chance he gets.  Honestly, the biggest surprise is not so much the anticipation. There were those moments here and there last year as well. It's that even that one positive quality he had seemingly vanished his first two games to where it looked like it was all but over, only for it to start coming back some until you get exclamation points all over this game film. And some of those throws were under a lot of duress, something I feel is something new. Finally, those deeper shots are starting to land. Not all of them, but enough that defenses may have to start respecting them. No guarantees whether this will end up as more of anomaly but I certainly hope it isn't. The Green Bay game was a sampler of what BY could be. Against KC, we got a meal. If we could start getting these meals regularly, we might actually have something to work with here.
