I have no problem extending him, converting a big chunk to a signing bonus(lowering his cap hit) and having more money to either roll over to 2025 or spend on Luvu and Brown.

well like I said thats the rub, how can tillis restructure this that works for the team because as it stands now moton is getting his money at some point.  And if tillis can work out an extension that lowers the cap hit and frees up space then awesome but we gotta see it first

Makes no sense to move on from your above average, proven, RELIABLE, tackle, when your line was a complete mess last year. He has been our only consistent on the line over the last 5+ years. If we haven’t learned already from CMC and DJ Moore, moving on from your proven playmakers can have a very negative effect. An extension makes perfect sense from a tent, team building, and cap perspective.

It's not that difficult. If he gets a sizeable signing bonus, remember that all gets paid out immediately upon signing. The cap tricks spread it out over X years but the money was long since actually spent.

well he ain't been that good either. the rest have just been really bad. between him and jackson it's like some of you all don't want to see this team get better.

What the hell are you talking about? T-Mo has been consistently good. He's not top tier, but he isn't getting paid like he's top tier, but he has been good.

Moton is going to be a career panther and you mouth breathers are going to have to suck it up and live with it.

I mean, I must be living in an alternate universe with people badmouthing Moton...or...maybe I'm just a member of the Carolina Huddle.

The difference between renegotiating, and restructuring seems to be lost on some.

An extension would save money because you'd have more seasons to spread out the guarantees.

Moton needs to stay, especially some consistency concerns with Ickey heading into yr 3.

He played the 4th most snaps in the league last season, gave up 1 sack, and had a green ratting every year he has been in the league. Just because you have an option on it does not make it fact. He was an iron man for us last season when everyone around him was switching out from game to game.

He was actually rated almost 6 points higher last season than the previous season when he only gave up 6 penalties and 3 snaps (4 penalties and 1 sack last season)

Did getting rid of CMC and DJ teach you nothing? You watched the line last season and think Motons performance warrants us to go in another direction or look for an improvement on that type of performance? Especially on a team with such little talent, and into a handful of players (Moton being one) that is an above average NFL player?

We are a 2 win team with more holes than a Lifetime movie plot. It's not getting fixed in a single offseason. Embrace the suck for a year, and just get it over with.

...Yea...we've been embracing the suck for 6 years...whats one more at this point.

The clear best choice here is to extend him for 3-4 years and move some of this year's cap hit so it's spread out over the life of the new deal. We can't let our only good, reliable OL go just to save cap space.

Honestly, it's just simply hard to believe that any fan would suggest that we get rid of a quality lineman period, much less when we have a diminutive QB that was sacked 62 times last season. I just don't understand how anyone can purse their lips to suggest such a thing. It is nonsensical. It is worse than saying he played bad last year, and that's pretty damned delusional---out of touch with fúcking reality.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
