Who will start at RDE and LDE?

This will be the age old question going into camp

My bets are on Charles Johnson on the RDE and Tyler Brayton remaining at LDE with Everette Brown as our rotational RDE for now

unless we make a trade for somebody or draft a DE high, i'd guess you're about right.

Well I think Brown and Brayton will be starter day one unless one gets injured. I would say Johnson and Brayton would be the starters but please correct me if I'm wrong but Johnson is a LDE and Brown is a RDE. If Johnson can play Right side I can see Johnson starting just because Fox has always picked vets over youth.

Now I do however think that it doesn't matter who starts because we will have a lot of rotations this year on the line. I am also really excited with the resigning of Brayton. Not only did we get our starting LDE back we marked off one of our major needs and don't have to worry about trading or drafting a DE high.

I think Brown starts at RDE, and Brayton and Johnson will fight it out for the LDE starting spot. If you would have asked me in the middle of last year, I would have agreed that Brown would only be in rotation on passing downs, but by year end, he was playing the run pretty well and getting consistent pressure on the QB. Also, I think if you look at how his minutes increased so much as the year progressed, it will give you an idea of how the coaching staff feels about his development.

Brayton was drafted higher than Brown or Johnson for what it is worth. Brayton was a first rounder for Oakland. Lewis who was cut was a first rounder also while Kemo was undrafted. I would think how they actually play is a lot more important than how much they cost or where they were drafted.

I agree that Everette stays on the right side. I'm pulling for Johnson to win the start, and I think he will. Either way, I think best person plays. I want to see them use a lot of rotation.. Something like:

--1st

LE- Johnson

RE- Brown

--2nd

LE- Brayton

RE- Johnson

--3rd

LE-Brayton

RE- Brown

--4th

LE-Johnson

RE-Brown

Maybe Hilee Taylor can finally contribute in the pass rush?

seniority often decides who is going to get RDE. thats why pep was on the left side for so long. rucker was the old man so he had the right side as long as he was around, even though peppers was better suited for it naturally. as soon as rucker was gone pep moved to the right. this is the case with most clubs.

this year....i don't know. i'd say that since johnson has been around the longest that he would get RDE but brayton can make a case as well. while they all would benefit from it, brown would probably benefit the most from moving to the right. of course they'd still have to deal with the LT so that might not be a good thing for brown at this point.

i say johnson or brayton.

Lewis was drafted before Jenkins if that is any indication

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
