Wow after reading the negatives I cant say I'm impressed at all in this years crop. Shipley isn't on the list which surprises me. They also said those receivers listed didnt have top end speed.

You do realise that they said the same thing for Greg Jennings, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Marques Colston etc. Does speed matter? Yes it does, but you just need enough speed to get consistent separation. When they say they don't have top end speed, they mean that they're not Steve Smith or Randy Moss fast. That however, is a luxury and not a prerequisite to be a top 5 WR. I much rather have a smart WR with good intangibles and average speed than a guy like Darius Heyward-Bey or Ted Ginn.

On our O he could be pretty effective. All we would have to ask him is just stretch the field. If he takes off down the field every play he most likely will remove both the S and CB from making a play on the run at the 2nd level. Might open up our running game to actually run a 3 wr formation every play and get rid of the TE or FB (maybe this is why we cut Hoover our O is going to evolve....nah).

I guess Jackson could fulfill that role but Ginn is a much better returner (which we desperately need). I wonder what the asking price is for Ginn? I would give up a 4th for him.

hell yeah, i'd even consider giving up a third. we were planning on drafting one in either the second,third or fourth anyway, might as well trade for one with more NFL experience that is still young. if we do that then we can focus on the D-line depth that we so desperately need. i'm all for it.

Dude, are you guys serious? I think you're overrating his ability to draw attention. He's a 3rd string wideout for the Dolphins right now, he had 454 yards, 11.9 YPC and 1 TD this year. That's pretty poo. Keep in mind that the Dolphons have one of the most creative coaching staffs in football too, so all those tricks that you're thinking of, Parcels and co. have thought of too, plus a million other ideas they had. Despite the cool schemes and creativity, Ginn has still done poo. If I was a DC, why on earth would I put 2 guys on him? Just bump him at the line! I rather trade that 3rd round pick for a pizza on draft day. On the other hand, look at those 'slow' receivers like Boldin and Jennings, their offence looks pretty explosive to me. Don't fall in love with a guy just because of speed and don't discount a guy because of it.

Didnt know that at all actually. I think we will get a WR in the second round but I really think we need one that can return kicks unless the coaching staff thinks we already have someone that can do it (Dexter Jackson). I really think Shipley is the answer and I don't see why he isn't even in the top 10 WR

How many 4th round picks are surefire stars at the NFL in returning in this draft? All I want is a good slot receiver that can stretch the field and give pause to D's loading the box. Whatever he contributes in the passing game is just a bonus.

And no offense to Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams but they are no Stewart/Dwill. Ginn did not have our TE's, RB's, or Steve Smith to draw attention away from him and our Oline is far better IMO. To discount him just because of his ineffectiveness on one team that doesn't have nearly the talent on O as us is just as bad as someone that overvalues speed. Moose looked at best average with the Bears but both bookend trips with the Panthers he excelled. A guy with average speed can be just as much of a flop.

It all depends on the offense you play in. If you play in an offense that is a spread where there are 4 WRs at a time to cover then no speed doesn't matter as much because the defense is so spread out. However, in our offense the DBs are not going to be spread out as much trying to cover 4 or 5 different receivers.

Personally I still love Golden Tate and if he is there for our 2nd and we don't take him and take a freakin DL instead I will be really pissed off. They need to give Moore all the help they can.
