Will Smith ever get the numbers he deserves before he ends his career?

Because of their unique chemistry, Smitty has better #s with Jake than he likely would with other QBs IMO.

I've been saying it for years. Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme are a perfect fit, they make eachother so much better and Smitty has struggled statistically in the past with other QB's throwing to him. It takes a lot of faith and understanding in the way he plays in order to get him the ball well, and that's what I love about Jake. Yes sometimes he makes some really poor choices when trying to get him the ball, but in the end Smitty is best left with Jake throwing him the ball and that's that.

Smith has had great stats, part of which comes from the type of team he's on. I'd be willing to argue he's probably better off here than anywhere (except for last year of course).

Smith is almost custom built to our type of offense (good on the deep ball, especially the play action and on shorter routes in traffic), although he'd do well no matter where he is.

A similar example to me would be Roger Craig. You could say up front that he would have put up much better numbers in a more run based offense, but his talents were really put into play being in the WCO.

Smitty wants to get into the HoF the same way Lynn Swann did, not because he has great career stats, but because he has a fistful of rings.

That's the best way for any player to get into Canton.Be a part of a dynasty, there aren't many players at any of the positions on all the dynastic teams that aren't in the HoF. Stats are good for identifying a great player on a bad or mediocre team(s).If we had strung along some deep playoff runs to go along with '03,'05 Smitty would be alot closer to the hall even without any changes in his numbers.

Fox told Delhomme in his interview with the team in 03 that he believed in running the ball first and he hasn't changed his mind. No matter who the QB would be the coach doesn't prefer to pass a bunch of times each game.

If I'm not mistaken, Steve Smith hasn't even passed Moose yet for the Panthers career receiving record.
