Blind faith in the panthers

So I'm supposed to believe that I would be better off if I'm already bitter and disappointed before we ever play a single game?

No, but don't act like were more than what we are, or the FO never makes a bad move...watch,hope,have fun but dont lie to yourself or in the end you will be bitter and disappointed .

Who's acting like we are more than we are? we did go 12-4 in 2008. And have a cluster-fu*k of talented football players, and we did finish the '09 season as one of the best looking NFL teams in the league IMO.

The main problem has been addressed, that being our QB position. We or any team just can't win games while throwing 4-5 interceptions a game. If we didn't throw 18 interceptions in the first 11 games we would have made the playoffs.

I'm just a true fan of the Carolina Panthers, and will always be even if we have another 1-15 season (which will never happen with our current team). I'm not for every decision the FO makes but can live with them for now.

I'm not sure who's lying to themselves here. Is it the people who are freaking out over losing a bunch of aging mediocre players, or the people who believe that everybody but Peppers, who the FO tried like hell to keep BTW, can be replaced fairly easily? I mean, are we really screwed because we lost Kemo, Lewis, Diggs, and Brayton? None of those guys were exactly superstars, and Kemo probably won't ever be the same again anyway. Nevermind the fact that we don't even know yet what the draft and the rest of FA will turn up for us.

I'm not saying we're Superbowl bound or anything, but I sure as hell don't see anything wrong with this team that can't be overcome either.

Your writing skills are horrible, hence why I couldn't understand it very well. Also, I'm not going to waste my time reading the whole thing through at a snails pace; there are other threads out there, you know!

 Yeah, like I said. This thread would have been more appropriate last season because people were being damn right ignorant. There was a f***ing excuse for everything.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if we go 6-10 or something like that next year. Right now, I'm in the middle. I don't think we are as bad as some experts and fans think and I don't think we are as good as some extremely optimist people think.

1.John Fox is one of the best coaches in the league.

2.J.R. one of the best owners in the league.

3.F.o. makes smart, sound decisions filling in those holes with cheap left overs from other team's.

4.Now on the field we have one of the best O lines, one of the best W.R.'s ,best running back duo,one of the best defenses in the league and until Jake was let go one of the best leaders and teammate in..the..league.

5. Class, you guessed it... more class than any team in the league.

GO PANTHER 2012

I like the way you think! :D

The Panthers are not perfect, they do make mistakes from time to time. But if you were new to the game of football and came on here reading post you would think we had multiple super bowl rings and were one of the elite team's of the nfl and had set down a blueprint for the the rest of the league to follow...Why do I say this, well here are a few examples.

there aren't enough blind optimists on this board for somebody to read through the topics and think that way. People have just now gotten through with the belly aching from the salary dumps and peppers.

1.John Fox is one of the best coaches in the league.

Most people say this in his defense after he's criticized heavily. There is definately not a consensus that he's one of the best in the leauge.

2.J.R. one of the best owners in the league.

I think you probably have a point that most people say he's one of the best in the leauge.

3.F.o. makes smart, sound decisions filling in those holes with cheap left overs from other team's.

The cheap leftovers usually work out pretty well, and when they don't face much of a penalty. Most people have said this to calm down all the people who are freaking out about losing guys like lewis, brayton, and diggs. Those 3 guys had some of the better/best years of their careers here. We'll replace them with the same method of picking through the scraps. I don't here everybody saying they love this method. Most people are just predicting that the FO will continue this practice.

4.Now on the field we have one of the best O lines, one of the best W.R.'s ,best running back duo,one of the best defenses in the league and until Jake was let go one of the best leaders and teammate in..the..league.

How is this blind optimism?

O-line - 2nd in rushing avg, 3rd in yards, 10th TD, 13th least sacks, 8th least hits. 3 blue chip players. Pretty young. Good depth/backups. Good coach.

Smitty and Calvin Johnson are the only guys who had horrendus QB and still put together decent stats. I consider both of them some of the best in the leauge.

Name a better duo than Double Trouble. I don't think it's blind optimism to call them the best in the leauge.

I haven't heard a topic raving about the defense. Most people are taking a wait and see approach. We've lost our best player and the entire D-line. I've heard people compliment the late season games, the pass D, and the individual players but never the whole unit.

I think you are mostly right that people play up Jake's intangibles. But I don't remember much "best in the leauge" talk.

5. Class, you guessed it... more class than any team in the league.

I think your right to say a lot of people preach this.

6. We point fingers and laugh at other teams with multi super bowl wins, conference championships and much longer history and tradition than us. They have no clue, we have laid the blueprint they should follow it.

So we should all respect the raiders, lions, 49ners, and redskins. Who cares about what they did, they stink at the moment. Nothing wrong with a few jokes.

7. The draft...first rounder's, those are for suckers...over priced and over hyped. We make star's out of late round picks...diamond's in the ruff.

I haven't seen much people say anything like that about 1st rounders. I've heard some say that they're cheaper and this draft is deep so that we should still be able to snag a good player with our 2nd.

8. F.A. big names don't need ya... we sit back........ wait........ let the dust settle then raid all grocery store's nationwide. Now Thats how you do it. Take notes Daniel Snyder

A lot of people have been saying this. But it's not so much an endorsement of the FO's strategy, they're just predicting what is going to happen. They usually have to say this to the people panicking claiming that we are going to sign ANY FA's and that our vets were huge losses. Considering we picked up many of the same vets from the scraps I'm not going to panic in march.

And the list goes on of thing's this team has never done wrong, we are the pinnacle of per... no...purfection, casting a shadow of Carolina blue pride down upon the rest of the nfl. So what if some of you got your fancy little Lombardi Trophy, it's overrated and not cost efficient...you have to build the trophy case then theres polish, the cost of accent lighting...just not worth it in the long run. Trust us, it sounds as tho were cheap but thats not the case...its just good economics.

Now I love the panthers as much as the next guy, been cheering them on from day one...but not to the point of blinding myself to their faults and thinking that they can do no wrong. Or trying to twist every move they make into a smart move that betters the team.

If the list goes on and on keep naming things.

JR is making very economical decisions this off-season. It's a good year to dump salaries. He should save a lot of money. Whether it's good for the football team will remain to be seen.

I know the whole cba thing is iffy at this time, but put this teams shoe on the foot of another....people on here would give them no hope this year...as of this moment.

Guess what? Fans are biased towards their favorite team. Shocker isn't it.

A new qb shows promise but don't know yet...purged d line...no receivers but smith...full back don't know...bad st...no draft picks...not real good at and don't like to play the FA game... and a lame duck head coach.

All valid concerns that have been voiced on this forum. Except for no draft picks. We lost a 1st and a 5th. I'm pretty sure we still have the others unless you know something I don't.

so stop trying to turn a pile of poo in to gold, yes we got some good poo but don't act like it never stinks. Thank you... GO PANTHER 2012

So you've been cheering for the panthers since day one but you're not going to cheer for them this year because you think you'll be bad. How many times have you done that since day one?

I think I'm off to make a topic about whiny posters and broad exagerations.
