Who will be our starting 4 on the defensive line?

The Question

Recommended Posts

Who in your opinion, will be our starting front on the defensive line?

I honestly believe it will make or break us this season.

Brown

Tyler

Draft Pick

Johnson

Make or break? What exactly is going to happen? Is the team going to fold? Plenty of teams have strings of bad years, many with more bad years in a row than the Panthers.

Also, you answered your own question really. I think that looks to be the only line they can field at the moment with any dependable skill.

I can't really answer such my own question when my question in the first place was in YOUR opinion, who will start. I meant it will make or break us next year, considering the fact that our defensive scheme is based on applying enough pressure with our front four to play solid coverage and force sacks. If that facet of the defense folds the whole scheme folds and thus unless we have some miraculous high scoring offense next year our front four HAS to play well.

Meeks front 7 in the past apply pressure on QB but weaker against run

It will be interesting to see what style of Defense Meeks develops with the front 7 starters

Here's an outlook

With all the inexperienced D-Lineman

None will have established styles that will have to be readjusted to MEEKS system

Corey Irvin will be in the mix at UT. Before you discuss the possibility of us taking a WR in the second and a DT in the third, remember last year's 3rd round pick.

And yes, we need the line to play well. Don't forget, with the superior line play we got last year the defense was 8th in the league in points allowed and 4th against the pass. And it had to have been the line--that unit was feared throughout the league. Right?

Jesus, I didn't know that English was that so hard to comprehend.

The reason you answered your own question is because, and I quote:

My point was that (also, notice I said "I think", hence my opinion, but it was more about the following point) there seems to be no real alternative line to field.

So, to illustrate my point, let's say you have Pie A, Pie B, Pie C, Pie D and Pie E. Let's say that Pie C sucks. You need to have 4 good Pies available for the upcoming Pie convention. So, which Pies do you present at the convention? Yeah, Pies A, B, D and E! No poo!

Also, to clarify, do you mean it's "make us or break us" because if the D-line fails, the entire season will suck, but if it succeeds the team will do great? I think this is what you mean, I just didn't understand your original wording but your second posts clears it up a little, I think.

I see us rotating in the dline a lot more. I will give who i think will start and who will be the top reserves.

DE- Brown, draft pick

NT- Leonard, Tank

UT- Ed, Irvin

DE- Johnson, Brock

We could target Austen Lane or CJ Wilson depending on if we are looking for another pass rusher or a run stopper. But it won't be in the 2nd more likely the 3rd or later even. The reason being is we are looking for a DE to rotate in and as depth not a starter. We have Brown and Charles Johnson. In the 2nd our target should be a WR/KR that can contribute fairly quickly.
