Not a ton of substance in the 13 min video but I did find it interesting he mentioned the number 1 priority on defense is finding pass rush outside of Burns. He mentioned if we trade Burns we have an even more massive hole, but did bring up that we didn’t have a single game where the offense from the opposite team having to come from behind to score points. This absolutely made the stats for Burns drop some, and it is crazy to think about. Not once was Burns able to get after the opposite team in the 4th quarter when they had to throw to win, because we were playing from behind in all 17 games, not to mention not having ANYONE opposite of Burns.

The perspective on Burns was interesting. We need someone on the other side if we keep him and if we don't then we have to find two pass rushers.

Also pointed out that this defense is basically going back to what Capers ran here in the 90s and we have to have that two pronged pass rush.

So now I'm like...

That can't be Burns:

1) The guy actually slowed the progress.

2) If it was Burns, he'd be racing past the runner, then past the QB.

3) This guy made contact with somebody

What we do know however is that Burns is not in the top 20 for pass rush win rate at edge and obviously not ranked for run stop win rate.

While Brown just makes the top 20 for DT pass run win rate and was #1 at run stop win rate.

There are edge players who are in top of both pass rush and run stopping and here we have people claiming Burns is an elite player and should be paid as such......elite at what?

There isn't a whole lot in common between Evero's gap and a half scheme and the traditional 3-4 Capers ran  other than both being considered 3-4
