We are a year removed from trading a bunch of assets for the #1 overall pick. If they believe Bryce Young is the future, then it is absolutely the right move to pay big for arguably the best WR in football.

Why else do you trade up for a QB?

The coach and GM that traded for BY aren't here anymore. And while we may be a year removed from the trade, the full cost of that trade has yet to be paid. We won't be unaffected by that trade until 2026. You keep saying that it makes sense to make this trade. How do you build around JJ if BY the bust you've said he is?

Oh I don't think Bryce will be a franchise QB. I'm just speaking from the Panthers point of view. They may think he is the franchise moving forward. If so why not get him arguably the best WR in football.

Let's say that they make the trade. It's going to cost an arm and a leg. Best WR in the league, you're likely paying a Rams type offer for Burns. How do you continue to build the team and infuse it with new, high grade talent, when you only have round 3-7 in the draft and FA to work with?

You make good draft picks. That's how you get better.

Do you know how low the hit rate is for guys taken in rounds 3-7? You can say make good draft picks but hitting on enough picks in those rounds that make a significant difference for 3 years straight is lottery type odds. It just doesn't happen, even for the most successful GMs.

You do realize there is more than 1 draft right?

Are you looking at the bigger picture. Moving forward we need to start hitting on our draft picks. Is it hard sure. But 2 or 3 great picks can turn your franchise around.

Look at the Texans they changed overnight. It's not impossible for us to turn this thing around if we start hitting on these draft picks.

There is more than 1 draft. But right now we have no 1st in 24 and no 2nd in 25. Unless you believe we are trading for JJ with some day 3 picks, we're likely without a 1st and 2nd in 24' and 25' and quite possibly 26'. Trading for JJ would cost us 2 1sts and maybe a 2nd and possibly more. That's 3 years without a 1st and 2nd round pick, not 1.

You're right. 2 to 3 great picks can turn your franchise around. The likelihood that you're getting multiple great picks in rounds 3-7 is extremely low.

The Texans turned their franchise around with a number 2 overall pick QB, number 3 overall edge rusher, and a 3rd round WR. The biggest part of that obviously is Stroud. Trade for JJ and you're not seeing a 1st round pick for 3 years. Like I said, if BY is a bust, you better hit on a Brady, Dak, RW or Purdy because that's your only hope for a starting QB.

The Texans hit on a QB and coaching, that was what turned them around.

Sure Dell and Anderson were nice pieces, but they would still suck ass if they hired Reich, drafted Bryce, and kept everything else the same.
