Who do you want to bring in to compete with Moore?

Is it me or are the crop of young QBs getting worse annually? It could be defenses are getting better. I can remember when teams typcially had two solid QBs. Remember when Young was holding the clipboard for Montana?

It seems to me the last draft year where top QBs were hyped to play well and actually have was the Manning/Rivers draft. It has been very spotty at best since then.

I don't know I kind of see it differently. It seems to me like there are more franchise QB's than ever in the league right now. I think eventually almost every team will have a franchise QB. There is just so much demand for it and there are good prospects coming out every year.

Yeah. The Manning/Rivers/Big Ben/Schaub draft was a one in every 5-7 year QB class. There is always a stretch where quarterbacks are hard to come by. This year, I see a few of them working out really well regardless of hype...including Dan LeFevour. We just gotta be smart and not pick up a Luke McNown or Craig Krenzel who were also taken in that 2004 draft. ;)

Again I ask, why do we need a mentor for Moore? He has spent the the last three seasons behind Delhomme and McCown who has been mentoring him so how much more mentoring does he need?

It's never a bad idea to have an older player who's learned the mental side of the game to back up a younger player. Remember, without Mark Redmon, Matt Ryan probably never hits his ceiling of league average so quickly.

while early returns on his off field behavior are encouraging (signing his tender a month early), moore is notoriously laid back, and may not understand what is expected of an NFL QB at this young point in his career.

Notedly, I remember a reporter on this site who'd asked him in 2008 how the offseason conditioning program was going, and he'd replied "oh it's great. I'm off by 12 and have the whole day to myself." You don't want that.

Honestly, I'd love if they just brought Vinny back. The guy is 40 years old and still in peak physical condition. there's nothing he hasn't seen, and he's mastered the monday-saturday aspects of being a QB.

Maybe he's just that good.
