Interview of John Fox at Bama Pro-Day

So the Clemson Pro Day was his last one before the draft? I really hope it was for Jacoby Ford.

Meh from what I've read he's not a great WR(mediocre hands, doesn't have much agility). He's fast for sure, and he could spread the field for us and be a solid KR, but I think we can do better early on.

Also, I know it's not a popular opinion, but I still like the old ball coach. Fox may seem a bit laid-back and less fiery than others, but personally I like the quiet confidence air about him.

Yeah, after the changes we've been through this offseason, I'm pulling for Fox to surprise everyone and win the division and make a run in the playoffs with this young team.

I've been hard on him in the past, but I'm hoping we see a more aggressive Fox this year.

As for Ford, yeah I like his potential. I think he'll be a great deep threat and a great YAC guy if we got him the ball early (as in WR screens). But from what I've seen and read, there's been a lot of questions about his speed translating onto the football field. He's fast on the field, but he has trouble separating at the line and getting off the press. I think he could be good value as a mid-rounder, but still will be a project as a FT WR.

You aren't alone. It seems alot of folks who have taken Fox down the road and trashed his ability and decision making are lining up hoping they were wrong and I was right in feeling that Fox is actually a pretty good coach who can take guys with potential and develop them like he did with Brayton and Lewis.

Still with how the pendulum swings back and forth if we don't win right away it will be Hurney and Fox's fault we suck rather than where the blame should be which is at the top.

Thats what people thought about Chris Johnson too...that he wasn't better than well...all of the backs that he is in fact better than. Speed kills and I've seen Ford play and he has speed and hands. He would be a great 3rd round pick if we are lucky enough to get him that far down.

yep

interesting at the end of the video, he was asked something about Terrence Cody, and said.."yeah, I cant get into the specifics of those kind of things..." hmm

Terrence Cody has the pass rushing ability of a beached whale, but some team will give him a shot at playing NT. I think the 10' Panthers will go without a massive NT who is just in to stuff the running game. I'd rather we had a massive NT, but I just get the feeling that Meeks wants all of his defensive linemen to be lean and fast. I hope we pick up a huge NT, but that's looking more and more unlikely imo.

Please prove me wrong Fox! I know he is a pretty good coach will be even better if he learned something last year.

Ford = Drew Carter, straightline speed and mediocre hands.

He has great hands. The only thing Ford needs to work on is his route-running and for this offense, his run-blocking. He's going to come in and have a great rookie year. Bank on it.

Wierd, I was going to post the same thing except I was going to say a shorter verion of Drew Carter. Both are track guys and sometimes they don't make the total transistion to the NFL. In college, just outrunning the coverage can mask the lack of true WR skill sets needed to make it in the NFL. At worst, Ford could be another Dwight Stone or Micheal Bates for us...a kick returning speed demon.
