Not gonna argue with this.

I am.  Cam has to wind up and throw mortar shots to get it deep.  Bryce may have issues as his delivery is slow and he takes a while to get it out, but he has better arm strength than Cam at this point.

Cam is no longer able to do this. If he could, with his other physical attributes, he would still be playing.

For a few years we had the baddest dude in the game and a lot of our fans STILL don't appreciate it.

and the most exciting player in the game. not sure there is anyone in the game now who is that exciting or fun to watch.

truthfully, you could also say the same thing about smitty. no one tougher in the passing game and no one more fun to watch.

How is he making it difficult if he's a backup?

You're basically saying Cam doesn't have a job because teams simply don't want him because of his name and personality. It's just weird why Cam is the only QB who gets viewed this way.

Even Mayfield got a backup job and he was just as big as Cam peronality wise.

Last I remember he was giving a list of the select few teams he would play backup for.   That doesnt help his case.  Also didnt he recently say he didnt want to play anymore?

mayfield has as big a personality as cam?

Dave Chappelle GIF

the moment that he walks into a room, he becomes the biggest man/personality in the room and that's not at all a knock on him. it's just a fact and a part of what made him so awesome. he is the man that people gravitate to, that people look to, and that people want to follow. it's that charisma and that presence. and when it's clutch time, he's the guy that you want to get involved because you know if anyone can rise, it's him. we all saw it (and in the superbowl it took two teams to bring him down...broncos and zebras).

where that becomes a problem is if a team is trying to develop a QB into the leader of his team or at least the offense (which is the goal of every team, making their QB the leader). When you put Cam in there you put any other QB except the best and most established of vets in an impossible situation. they have to compete with cam for the team and it's not like cam tries to take over. his personality and presence does it all naturally.

and mayfield was NEVER any of that.

i think he was saying he doesn't have to and doesn't need to and for the context of the short list...he was saying that those were the only teams that could possibly pull him back on the field. otherwise it seems he's just not interested in it.

If Bryce was the mid-late round pick he probably honestly should've been given his physical talent his NFL career would probably be hanging by a thread. I've never seen a guy so over hyped on intangibles when most draft prospects are absolutely picked apart. Bryce had every physical measurable red flag a prospect could have an everyone somehow convinced themselves it didn't matter.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
