Shaun Hill for backup QB?

After signing Carr, the 49ers are going to dump their former starter Shaun Hill. Career record is 10-6, passer rating of 87.3. 23 TDs and 11 INTs. His numbers are GOOD. But the 49ers want to get rid of him.

Obviously, the 49ers consider certain numbers irrelevant. Hill appears to be expendable because of a matter of style. In offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye's offense, the 49ers want to feature a power-running game and complement that with a vertical passing game. The 49ers' coaching staff apparently is more comfortable with the similar styles of Smith and Carr as their top two quarterbacks.

That sounds familiar. Wonder what makes them think Hill is incapable of playing in this style of offense?

Personally, I think he's the best quarterback on that roster. It is mind-boggling that they would prefer Carr to Hill.

He will likely be cut...no one is going to offer them anything knowing that.

There are better/cheaper quarterbacks that we could get that might better fit our system, especially since it's just for a backup role.

And how is a QB with "weak arm strength" only good for a WC style system that throws alot when really the 49ers run most of the time?
