you guys have to realize we have JUST gotten into free agency and have not even had the draft yet... this team is no where near what its going to look like in the first game of the regular season. For the most part, every cut that the Panthers have made have been necessary.

You are wrong and my hair is on fire!

You think we will be worse...therefore we will be worse.

That is your arguement.

Peppers is a loss....Kemo and Lewis were average...as are Leonard and Tyler. Brayton will either be re-signed or we will replace him with a comparable player.

I don't know whether we will be better or worse....and neither do you. I think the talent outside of Peppers is at least equal to what we had on the DL. How that plays out in the season...wait and see.

No, my arguement is a freak (even if not consistant) like Peppers has masked what a huge loss Rucker and Jenkins were. Carolina has not ever replaced its talent on the DL for several seasons. In a vaccum, there is not a big difference between Lewis/Leonard......take Pep out and you will see just how big of a joke it is to run those type guys as your starters.

Kemo and Lewis will not be much of a loss.

Our DLine will not be worse that if we kept Kemo and Lewis.

they will for the 2010 season. you go from a cast of rotational guys at DT.....to simply starting two guys that should be rotational guys. You just lost depth at DT and that WAS the only positive about the DT spot.

Tyler, Leonard, and Irvin were hurt last year. Three back and two (Kemo and Lewis) are gone. How has depth been depleted?

Also, we can always sign a guy short-term like we did with Holllis Thomas.

I submit that the four starters we have penciled in right now (figure Tank Tyler for the UT) are already better than the lines in St. Louis, Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Seattle. Would you trade with any of them? Seriously? And the rest of our defense is top notch.

And our guys are ALL still getting better. Does anyone seriously think that young guys like Charles Johnson and Everette Brown are as good as they're going to get? Brayton, Kemo and Lewis weren't getting any better. If anything, they're getting worse with age. It happens. So this line isn't the worst in the league, and it may end up better than the 2009 line, which sucked anyway.

And for those who laugh at me for saying Godfrey is good in coverage, read what I said again in full context (P55, you're better than that! ;) ). When he didn't blow his assignment, he was good. During his rookie year, and early last year he had problems with that. When he was where he was supposed to be, he did pretty damn well. Meeks system is better for him than Trgo's, and that's probably why he came on last year and played well later in the season.

So really, we're missing Peppers. That's the one place where there's no doubt that we're regressing--we won't get better and we won't even approach the same level of play.

That's it--one player. Yes, he's hard to replace, but there are 10 other guys on the field. Our defense won't be as good as it was, but we're not going to go from the 9th best to the 29th best just because we can't replace one guy. There's just way too much talent elsewhere.

It seems to be a battle to see who can write the most about this as a way to win with quantity so let me be brief. This discussion is premature and what we field in September may not resemble what we have now. But if we were to take our current squad into the season we won't win 5 games. Our defense will be exposed as our secondary will be suffer with little pressure on the quarterback. We have no receivers which will put 8 guys in the box all day. And Moore can't be expected to score 25-30 points without a supporting cast. If we start out slow on defense the pressure will be on the offense and Moore has shown he can play very well when he isn't pressured and can manage the game. But in his 8 starts most of his picks come when he tried to do more than he is capable of. That will be case if we get in shootouts.

TRUE, everyone is saying the same thing ,Bottom line we released cut or let go proven vets, and replace with players that have been here 2 or 3 years with not much game experience.Exception is moore i believe he is ready. But he needs weapons to throw to.

How many games snaps did those guys take last year? How is letting the guys who played and keeping those who didn't NOT losing depth.

But the guys we lost who played werent signifcant enough to be a major loss.

Even if our current players play average they have replaced the one who were let go.

I guess by your logic we should always stay with vets and not play the young guys.....

    • Lol. Nah, man. Get with the program. We need athletic freaks that aren’t really good at their position but maybe have a 3% chance of excelling at a position they’ve never played. Why take a safety with a proven track record, when there are tons of shitty corners that can run a better 40 and can be moved to safety? Shitty quarterback? Excellent! Let’s trade up and make him a receiver! 27 year old olb with major character issues and decision making problems? That’s the guy we want.
