You can't play like you're afraid of being hurt in what is essentially a contract year. Other teams are watching and Hurney isn't here to pay based on potential instead of performance.

Dan Morgan said we need some dawgs on this team. Dawgs don’t play scared and then expect $30 million contract.

Brian Burns fugged himself.

My biggest frustration with this situation is Burns should have been locked up after his 3rd year as an ascending top pass rusher much like the raiders did with Crosby (who's now a steal).  By the 3rd year if you don't know what you have then you don't know what you're doing.  Without a contract, Burns essentially ended up betting on himself and shot his price tag up with a monster 4th season and a reset pass rusher market. Both sides have been playing chicken ever since.

Panthers f*cked themselves not trading Burns to the Rams. Scott Fitterer is the worst GM in team history by a nuclear blast radius margin.

Should have re-signed Reddick and traded Burns all along.

I hope it's the final stages of negotiation tactics that every franchise does....whether the optics are good or bad (it's the latter).

We are at a very important crossroads with the perception of our franchise both internally, amongst fans and the rest of the NFL (coaches, front office, players, etc.). We have been arguably the worst run team for the past two years.

That being said, we have cleaned up quite a bit of the mess and have trended in the right direction since the Fitterer firing and Morgan/Canales hiring. It's a new era and we can't fug this up.

Re-sign Burns to a five-year deal that averages $29-30M per year, with a lower number in '24, but escalates closer to Bosa's $34M deal in the future. In 2-3 years, others will once again reset the market and Burns' deal will be right in line with a talented EDGE franchise player in the end of his prime.

By re-signing him, we have more cap flexibility this year and it sends a statement that we want him here long-term. We did right by him and recognize how he didn't hold out, was a team player and was not a disruption.

Pay. Him. Now.

The franchise tag cripples our flexibility this offseason, especially if you're going to keep him long-term....which is the right move. You drafted him, he played well and with a better overall team construction, will keep being impactful on defense. Losing him opens an even more gaping hole at EDGE.

Next up....re-sign Luvu and extend Brown. Extending Brown also helps our cap this offseason and will continue to send the positive message that this franchise is for real and not nickel and diming their players.

Tepper, Fitts & Suleiman really screwed this up.....pay the piper. Cleanse the optics of this franchise and help return this team to relevance.

TLDR; Do the right thing - Pay Brian Burns. Re-sign Luvu. Extend Brown. Restructure Moton.

They can probably manage to get a 1st for him in the mid-high 20s.

If not, they could likely get two 2nds for him. One this season and another next year to replace the missing one from the BY trade.

they get a first this draft and that will go a long way in building the offense.  Top wr in first top lineman in 2nd or vice versa

She's skewing a lot. Yes Burns is good. He's not 30M dollar good though.

Lions need to call and offer Williamson a 1st and a mid round pick for him.

Neither is Moton, but his cap figure will be $30m for the next two years.   I wonder if Burns isn't looking at the guy he probably beats in practice quite often who plays a position (RT) that is not as valued as a premier OLB Edge Rusher.  Regardless, neither is worth 30m

This is the absolute worst option for Panthers long term success.

I don’t buy the “other players are going to be watching” and by not accepting the rams trade this team made their decision.

Yeah others will pay attention, but overall and as it applies to that, and the they placed a value when didn’t accept that trade is that was a different regime who made that decision. Dan Morgan did not set that value and if going to say Tepper did then maybe this is showing he is letting the football people make the football decisions.

I did appreciate and like he played out the last year and didn’t hold out.  There is something to be said there and maybe should be rewarded in a way. But he didn’t produce at a level we would have like to have seen and that was the risk both sides took.  So now we have to trust Dan Morgan and the staff.

Oh there is no question about the loss. If we sign him for what he wants, it's a loss. If we sign him for what we offered, it's a loss. If we trade him for less than what the Rams offered, it's a loss. If he walks away for merely a compesetory pick, it's a loss.

The instant we turned that offer down, we lost. The only thing that needed to be answered was by how much.

This is a big test for Morgan.... lets see what he can mine outta this cesspool of disfunction....if he can get rid of Burns for a second...i'll prolly be happy.

No one is coming to the worst team in the league with an unproven coach & quarterback.

Cap space is useless for this team. Without Burns we're going to have possibly the worst defense in the league next season, especially if the secondary continues to be made of glass.
