Seattle wants McNabb

During a Tuesday appearance with Mike Missanelli of 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio dropped a couple of bombs regarding the current quarterback situation in Philly.

Paolantonio said that the Seattle Seahawks have been contacting the Eagles "non-stop" regarding quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. As we reported last week, the Eagles have been hearing from multiple teams regarding McNabb, but the Eagles have not yet entertained any offers.

But offers apparently will come; Paolantonio says that Seattle coach Pete Carroll wants to win right away, and in Carroll's mind that includes getting McNabb or Kolb. And Paolantonio says that he now firmly believes that McNabb will be traded by the Eagles at some point in the offseason.

Meanwhile, Paolantonio also said that the well has gone dry on Mike Vick, and that no one is interested in trading for him. "St. Louis has dried up," Paolantonio said. "Buffalo, dried up."

It appears, then, that the Eagles are banking on something occurring later in the year to create a market for Vick. Possibilities include a starting quarterback struggling in offseason drills, a torn ACL injury during red-jersey practices or the preseason, or the decision of a 40-year-old quarterback who runs a very similar offense not to return for another season come August.

Not surprising. McNabb is going to walk into a whole other culture in Seattle.

I'm still wondering why everyone wants Vick so much, no other team wants him or thinks he is worth a chance...wouldn't the panthers look kind if stupid going for him?

Because Vick was one of the most promising QB prospects of all time and showed he has still an amazing arm and quick release.

Coaches will always convince themselves that THEY can be the ones to turn him around.

I am still a big supporter of Matty Hass....but damn I would take McNabb in a heartbeat!

the part of the original article that doesn't make sense is Seattle wanting McNabb or Kolb...seems to be quite the jump from one to the next!!!

I would love to see what he (McNabb) could do in Seattle. I think the players in Philly prefer Kolb and everyone knows it so I kind of agree with Sal that Mcnabb gets traded but we have all heard this before. McNabb needs a fresh start and Seattle would be nice. Just tell your receivers to start doing toe touches so they get used to digging balls out of the dirt like a shortstop!

I could be wrong but I think if any team were to offer a 1st for McNabb, the Eagles would personally drive him to the front door of the stadium of whatever team offered. Who knows though....Depends how bad a desperate team wants him and how serious the Eagles are that they are not interested in trading him.

Jeremy Bates once worked under Gruden. Wonder if he's planning a West Coast type offense in Seattle. If so, going for McNabb would be wise.

Could be a real minefield for Philly, honestly.

Suppose you trade Kolb (not likely) and he becomes the next big thing while McNabb starts showing his age?

On the flipside, suppose you trade McNabb and then Kol suddenly turns out not to be as good as you thought he was?

Pitfalls either way, but it's pretty rare for a team to trade away their QB of the future. McNabb/Kolb could be this year's Favre/Rogers.

As to the comments on Vick, ouch. Even the Rams don't want him?
