If Matt Moore was a drafted guy...

would people be calling for The Golden Calf of Bristol, McCoy or Con-Vick? Let's face it some fans are young and feel that unless there is a big name under center it is not good enough. Most of us that have been NFL fans for awhile realize that 2nd round QB's for the most part are a wasted pick. I really liked what i saw from MM last year plus when the Big Spending Bears, Deadskins and such are less successful than us next year will JR's youth movement make more sense? I like the moves we have made and are happy to see a pro-active approach to the 2011 season. What holes do we have going into next season? We will be younger and hungrier than ever. We are in the perfect position going into the draft. We can go BPA. We have only one need. WR/KR/PR. I say we add two receivers in the draft. Mardy Gilyard and Carlton Mitchell.

One thing that NFL history shows, where in the draft someone is selected in has NOTHING to do with how that player does, or does not, turn out. Many, if not most, first round QB picks are busts to some degree. Manning worked out OK, Leaf did not. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Joe Montana a third rounder. Dan Marino was passed over repeatedly before he was grabbed. Bart Starr was a 17th rounder!

Moore has shown that being familiar with the system and players can produce results. He has some longevity with this team, and he showed potential in the past. he showed even more of what he's capable of during the last 5 games of this past season. He has earned the chance to start, and show if he is for real, if he is the guy who can lead this team. if he fails in that, or is seriously injured, THEN we can look at drafting a QB, seeing how we'll have a first round pick next year.

Sorry but we have quite a few needs after all these releases. Mostly depth, but needs nonetheless. Maybe even more cuz they might not be done cutting players yet.

Moore will be the panthers best chance to go anywhere next year.

WR is the panthers #1 need. I would hate to see the panthers spend their first pick in the draft ton a QB instead of WR when the panthers already poses a possible franchise QB which is all you get from the draft. At least Moore is familiar with the Panthers.

I routinely pointed this out last season. Likewise, I think it's interesting to think of Moore as a rookie. I'm sure he's learned a bit, but how many games has he actually started -- seven or eight?

I think if we drafted a quarterback in the first-round and he played as well as Moore has in his first eight games, we'd be annointing him our franchise quarterback.

(This is not to say I don't want a vet brought in as a quality backup, competitor and tutor for Moore.)
