Maybe Moore NOT starter (per Gantt, per sources)

top dawg

I think Moore is the starter, and stays there. It'd look pretty dumb to do otherwise.

As far as what's out there, McCown is better than anyone else available.

True but I still say that bringing in competition wouldn't hurt Moore either because if he is truly determined to stay the starter in camp then he will certainly be able to beat out a guy like Quinn or Thigpen

After seeing what has transpired the last few days, I am not going to assume a thing. Whether we like it or not, there is a youth movement going on. There is also a shedding of money, and seemingly a philosophy that is saying, "We're getting rid of the complacent who haven't got the job done, for whatever reasons, and infusing new energy into the team."

Yes, it may be practical to get a vet---and we still may---but don't think that we won't get a younger, more athletic guy, who is known for being accurate with a strong arm.

The cards say that Moore is the guy, but don't think that if someone else clearly outplays him in TC and/or the pre-season, that Fox won't keep Moore on the bench---or at least a very short leash. Moreover, don't forget the reports about Fox not believing that Moore has the work ethic and mentality of a leader. With J-Rich being very involved in the decision making as of late, you can't discount the pressure that he is wielding as well.

Nothing is guaranteed!

Would it, Scottie?

What would look dumber? This, or seeing another guy that clearly out performs Moore in TC and/or the pre-season, being sat on the bench in favor of an inferior player?

Fox is learning from his mistakes, and (believe it or not) J-Rich has him on a short leash.

Dont believe it. And when it comes to competition, Fox makes the wrong decisions

seneca wallace is now a brown, so maybe one of the qb's from the cleveland stable is going to be shipped out of town. i am a moore backer and want him to start. he still needs another wr to help make his and smitty's life easier, but a veteran backup would make me feel better.

That's where the smart money is.

I'm starting to believe that we'll draft Colt McCoy if he's there in the 2nd...

I hope it doesn't happen, but it is possible...

I doubt Colt McCoy will go that early, especially to a team whose scheme doesn't match up with his skill set.. Or lack there of.

Moore plus a veteran backup equals one still mostly unproven guy backed up by a reliable (though unspectacular) vet who can also serve as a mentor.

Moore plus a guy like Thigpen or some of the others equals an unproven guy backed up by another unproven guy with no more experience or wisdom to offer than he already has on his own.

Which idea sounds smarter to you?

Wait, if Henne is #1, Thigpin #2 and Pennington was just annouced as being #3, where does that leave Pat White? Are they going to carry him as just a wildcat QB/RB again? He's not the experienced backup we need but I would think he would be exactly the type of guy who would come in and give it his all to try and win the starting job.
