We might as well start making predictions for next season

I really love how you guys think cutting aging players who never really did anything to the team (save one or two) is going to horribly impact a relativity winnable season. It's like we're coming in with all of these questions, when our biggest, and only one now is our Dline.

It's quite depressing, realy.

I don't think it was smart to cut him, but I understand their reasoning. Most of my reasoning is based on emotions and also, I don't know as much about the team as they do. I'm sure they know a lot more about their FB position than I do. So, they felt that he was not needed and would take up space (I assume) and that it was better to cut him before he went totally downhill (back).

Thats what every one said about the decision to keep Jake in over Matt. BTW who was right there? Fans are almost never right but neither are coaches it seems.

I can't recall but I don't think I really ever rendered judgement on Jake staying in. Even if I did, in hindsight, I think I'd say that they felt any other QB on the team was worse than Jake and thus kept him in, running the risk of more interceptions.

Either way, I agree with your sentiments about Hoover being a bad decision, but I don't think they are screwing over next season.

I am by no means saying its intentional. I am not trying to suggest JR wants Fox to fail he is simple not going to give him his best chance to succeed. While I don't want him going out and signing a bunch of guys, letting him keep a important while still cheap player couldn't have been that bad. Its like JR is sending a message to someone. Whether to us, Fox, the team, media who knows?

Who did we lose that's going to hurt our talent and chemsitry so much?

I dont' see any negative loss we have that can't be fixed this offseason besides Peppers.

Um, I don't know, Brad Hoover? You know, the subject of the thread and the guy whose release caused Chris Harris and Rhys Lloyd to lose their poo over?

The Panthers lost at least 3 to 4 games due to Jakes HORRIBLE play alone. The Panthers have a better record last season if they just had average play from the QB position. Thats how.

But yet our receiving corps, which was god-awful last year, has actually been DOWNGRADED so far with the loss of a starter and no new acquisitions.

If you really think Matt Moore is going to have much success with Dwayne Jarrett as his #2, you're crazy.

He was old and they felt they had someone to replace him. It's that simple, man. I like Hoover too, but they decided he was not crucial and freed up space, especially considering they feel they can have a temporary FB in Sutton if Tony goes down.

It's overkill though. Can you name a team that cut this many veteran leadership guys in a single offseason and had success the next? I can't. I CAN think of what happened to Tampa Bay last year though once they dumped all of their aging veterans at once.

They had the right idea, but they really overreached with this Hoover cut. He was cheap, still good, and extremely well-liked among the players. Stupid move.

Because, clearly, one game equals an entire season...

*Most productive game his career so far.

Listen, I'm not saying he will be a outstanding #2, but he looked better with Moore than he had with anyone else all season.

Unlike them, our aging vets are not our best players.
