2001 and 2010 rebuilding

I guess the countless fans, analysts, and even Jon Beason were wrong in their assessment of Peppers. And yes, their play does become a factor when it's affected by the amount of effort they're exerting. That's the difference between Jake and Peppers. Jake was god-awful and many of the players remained in his corner because he gave it his all and took full responsibility for his shortcomings. Peppers, on the other hand, has faced questions about his work ethic since he was in college. Not to mention he threw the coaching staff and, in many ways, his fellow players under the bus when he first came out and said that he could not reach his full-potential with the Carolina Panthers. I'm not calling him a cancer but to call him a leader is laughable. Of course the players rallied behind him when he was making plays; when he's motivated, he's an elite football player. When he's not, he's just a freak athlete playing football; going through the motions. If Peppers was a leader in the locker-room, that might explain why we haven't seen the Super Bowl since 03-04.

We are talking about leadership.Peps not the guy yelling like J.Allen.But he was a leader just because who he is.Would E.Brown follow around Peppers like a lost Puppy at TC if he was not a leader? I dont think he put his fellow players under the bus if anything they understood wanting to leave. Its no coincidence that when Peppers played well the entire Dline stepped up last year that sounds like a leader to me.Pep may not wanted that tittle but he had no choice and thats 1 reason why he wanted out.

what am I missing? first full week of free agency. no draft yet. We still have the leagues best running game. still a solid defense, which of course needs fine tuning. a young QB how doesn't have a turnover problem. I mean is it August yet? please give it rest.

I dont think we are rebuilding at all. we will atleast go 10 and 6 if we dont get a ton of injuries like we did last year. are schudule is pretty easy this year. I think we will have one of the best ofences and one of the best pass defences are only weakness is dline. everette brown is a good pass rusher but to small right now to be a good run stopper and the DTs we dont even no who they are yet and johnson is ok i guess but nothing great yet.

You're not acting as a leader when you openly desire to leave your own team. You're not a leader when you start blaming others for your own shortcomings. Beason was the leader of that defense. Peppers was just another piece within the defense (which is coincidentally what he said he hopes to be in Chicago). Could you honestly envision a situation in which Beason would blame his own teammates and coaches for not achieving his own personal goals? I cannot believe someone would actually argue that Peppers was a leader last season.

ahh yes.Skipping over my last post that proved my point.

SC for the W:coolgleamA:

How in God's name did your last post prove any kind of point? Brett Favre is a natural born leader. He accepted and embraced that role, even in his final year with Green Bay. He left because Green Bay forced him out. He was still a great QB and was pissed. You're comparing apples to oranges here. Peppers was mopey because he never lived up to the hype and couldn't bring himself to blame himself.

Seriously, SC for the L. So hard.

lol:nono:

You said

Show me one leader who didn't accept and embrace the role.

I said Brett Favre with aaron rodgers in rodgers rookie year.

round 2 SC for the W.

And I'm saying that you are wrong. Every time he has suited up to play, he has accepted and embraced the role of a leader. If you're suggesting that there was ever a season that Brett didn't embrace the role of a leader, you're just wrong. He began to consider retirement because he felt betrayed by the FO; he wasn't going to take a backseat to another QB. Peppers wanted to leave because he couldn't accept that he was at fault for all of his shortcomings. Apples to oranges, champ.

lol..you must have forgotten have Favre acted when rodgers was drafted..ok
