meh....i'm just happy that moore is getting a real chance this year, that we have moved on from jake and peppers, and that it looks like the FO is trying to shake up some things this year....no more of the 21 of 22 returning tripe.

i'm still very much on the "lets get rid of fox" band wagon but i'm happy that they are doing more than just sitting on their hands. trimming the fat or soon to be fat was a good and shrewd move that gives younger guys a chance to play and gets us in better shape if 2011 is locked out.

when they are screwing up and doing things i don't like, i'll start hating. i don't hate just to hate. not usually anyway.

I keep seeing this saying "getting in better shape for 2011" what does this mean and what happen too 2010? Should we just forfit every game then. Now I like the cutting the Fat thing but you have too replace with equal or better talent. You get into this whole Seifert thing of cutting people and trying too replace them with younger people but that younger talent didn't beat out the other guy when they had their chance. Now we are just throwing people in starting roles and hoping they do well? (Not talking about Matt Moore who did take Jake's job).

Plus we are acting more like a team rebuilding then a team who just needed to retool a few position. The Big Cat has enough money too Retool WR and DE and still keep our young talent. While still having money for next year. Hurney is a capolgist he should be really earning his money now. But we keep on hearing about rebuilding threw the Draft. WE Don't Have Great Picks and it is stupid too expect a 2nd and 3rd and " " " " too come in here and make a impact.

Example it usely takes a WR 3 years to be a impact player and most of the ones that can go in the 1st round. Wait a minute we don't have a 1st round pick. Plus we have NO vet Leadership or player we know can and has produce on the Dline.

Really what are we doing this year. If we are "getting in better shape for 2011" then Richardson should send some money back instead of a bill when comes to PSL this year.

i have said this several times. the only response you will get is "calm down!! it is early in fa!!" "you dont know more than the people who make millions !"

the fa one is funny to me because if you asked anyone who said that who in fa will realistically come in and make our team better, they have no idea. they dont realize that this is not a normal fa period a lot of the fa that were to hit the market were tendered and the other few that remained have been signed. there are still fa's out there but most are going to be overage vets that got dumped because of salary reasons.

Am I the only one that is actually more excited about the team right now. Sure were letting some big names go that have meant alot to our team over the years. But to me our team still looks like a team with alot of talent and all of our real "leaders" are still here. All the vets that we let go were not leaders of this team. (except for jake, but everyone knows that was the right move).

I like the look of our team alot right now. I'm a little worried about our DT postions right now, and we ned another WR. But I think we can compete next year. Maybe im nuts? But to me this team reminds me alot off the 2003. Young, talented and eager to prove they can play. I'm excited as hell for next season!!

i would be too but i have higher hopes for this team other than just "compete" alot of young teams can compete but i want us to win and go deep in the playoffs. i dont see the current team doing that. not with the lack of experience we have.

Why do fans think like this???

Support the team for what they stand for, not because they win the most games. Could not care less how many games we win, I love the way the franchise is run and the type of players that the FO bring in.

ALL the cuts had their replacements on the roster already.

Jake had Moore who has starting experience

Kemo had Leonard who has plenty of experience

Lewis had Johnson, Tyler & Hayden who all have starting experience

Diggs had Connor and Anderson who both have starting experience

Johnson was a back up

all these young guys disputedly played better than the veteran that got cut, so why on Earth would we keep the large contract, when we can bring in a few vets at or close to the minimum to provide an insurance policy?!

People need to realise that spending money does not equal success. Who was the last big signing the Steelers made???

if these young guys played better than the vets they replaced why didnt they start? why were most of our dts 2nd or 3rd string on the teams we got them from? why were we able to get starting caliber dts for 4th and 55th round picks?

everyone is now on the fo bandwagon because they did a whole bunch of "exciting" things now. just last year they were idiots for many different reasons now the are the greatest fo ever.

i am not saying that we will fail next year , but before we say we will be superbowl contenders because our backups and scrubs from other teams have to step up, lets see who the fo brings in to help out. from the looks of the fa market right now it is not looking to good.

This seems like an absolutely ridiculous post...given that it's only MARCH!!! LMAO!

you sound like people last year that would say " it's only preseason, it's not a real game". When we would talk about how we could tell our team wasn't looking good.. Turns out we weren't to far from our preseason performance.

Such naivety!

When you are a supposed contender you do not not experiment with young guys who have just joined your team, rather you let the vets who got you into this position play. Now what happened, was that these vets got injured and allowed these young guys to play and low and behold they played just as well. They did not start because we thought the existing team was strong enough to get into the post season.

Why were most of the DTs 2nd or 3rd string elsewhere? Get your facts right mate.

Tyler started all 16 games in 2007 for KC, then saw them switch to a 3-4 which completely ruined his chances for them. He still started 6 games in 2009 but he clearly was not cut out for the 3-4, so bringing him back to a 4-3 front and he plays much better.

Leonard finished the 2008 season as starter for the Browns and wa slated to start, but due to getting into an arguement with Mangini he was sent packing. He looked the genuine article in the limited time he had here.

Regarding the compensation. How could the Ravens get a dominant #1 receiver for 3rd and 4th picks, how did the Pats get a franchise QB with a 6th rounder, how did we get a great contributor in Harris for a 6th? People need to stop looking at where people were drafted and the compensation that were given up in trades, as at the end of the day it's teh performance that is ll important.

However, since you asked. We got Leonard for little compensation because he got in an arguement with Mangini. We got Tyler because he was under performing due to being in the wrong system. Believe it or not, not all teams play the same way and there are countless examples of where one guy moves into a new scheme and is rejuvenated. He need teh quicker more explosive guys, the Browns and Chiefs need the stronger more stout run defenders. Starting to get the picture?

Idiot. Find me one person who has claimed that we are now a much better team. Honestly. Right now. Find me someone who said, flat out that we are a better team and that we are now Superbowl contenders. I will give you the rest of this evening to scour the forum to find just one example.

The fact is, all the replacements showed ability and, at worst, comparable performance at a MUCH lower cost. What most people are excited about is that we have a clean slate and now old guys who are vastly over paid. Now we can focus on bringing our own guys through into the lineup and rewarding teh guys who prove themselves, not the ones who were overpaid out of necessity.

You have come on trying to be the macho man, but almost all people who are intruiged about the FO now are the ones who are trying to calm the naysayers down by pointing out the FO has not even looked into free agents yet. So, for now, we have our potential replacements, but things could change dramatically.

For the record it is often the cheap guys you get ffrom free agency that tend to be the big pickups. Not many players without flaws hit free agency, so why on Earth would you overpay for them. We have done that in the past and not once has it genuinely worked out for us and we often have to end up replacing them 1-3 years down the line.

Look at it from a distance. Right now we have a home grown roster that we can mould into a genuine system and scheme that is self sufficient. We have most of the players in place, so why the alarm? We have lost 6 starters in Brayton, Pep, Vincent, Moose, Lewis & Diggs. That is the kind of turnover that most teams deal with year in year out, howwever for us its rare as we always try to keep our starters, no matter how old or replacable they are.
