Ex Panthers WR's Facebook post

For the record, I was glad to see Jake go...

I was glad because he was a weight on the success of our football team, not because I thought he was a bad person or anything like that...

Truth be told, I got a little teary eyed while watching his presser myself, but when you realize how much money he got paid to sit there and cry like that, it takes away some of the sting... If he was such a great guy and all, he could have restructured again (I think?) or retired and saved us some money...

I'll always have the good memories with the bad, and to sum up his career with us, I'd have to say it was average...

I wish him luck, but honestly, I think he's done...

Jake Delhomme was not throwing to Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Steve Breaston, and Early Doucet either...

Not saying Jake would do as good with those WR either, but I'm sure they have a hand in making Warner look good...

Or Isaac Bruce, Az-zahir Hakim, Torry Holt, Tony Horne, Chris Thomas. Maybe it was the other way around.

Average? I want you to look this up for me, please. What is the Panthers all-time record when Jake Delhomme was starting, and what is it when he didn't start? Then do the same for Beuerlein. You'll be amazed at what you see. He definitely was not average.

In fact, I put this to you....if Jake Delhomme had faced anyone other than one of the best teams of the last 25 years in the Super Bowl, he'd be Carolina's Drew Brees.

Bruce, Holt, Hakim alone are >>>>>>>>> any 3 WR set the Panthers have featured during Delhomme's tenure...

Warner went from stocking groceries to throwing to 3 good WR... In fact, he's likely thrown to 4 hall of famers on 2 different teams (Bruce, Holt, Fitz, Boldin)...

We might not have given Jake those weapons, but I'd say they weren't really needed. Jake had a role to hand the ball off 75% of the time and not make mistakes the other %25... For the most part, at the better times of his career, he did that... The past couple of years though, he has not...

Are you just trying to argue for arguing's sake? I KNOW you can't believe Jake to be comparable to Drew Brees...

I've given him the benefit of the doubt several times over the years, but he shouldn't be anywhere near a football now as far as I am concerned... He reached his pinnacle in that Super Bowl season...

Starting QB ratings during Carolina Panthers tenure:

Steve Beuerlein - 87.7 (record of 23-28)

Jake Delhomme - 84.9 (record of 53 - 37)

Matt Moore - 84.5 (record of 6-2)

Please take into consideration that Matt Moore's tenure is 8 games, as opposed to Delhomme's 90, and Beuerlein's 51...

This also does not include postseason... Delhomme also had the luxury of having Steve Smith his entire Carolina career, and a solid running game for the latter part of his tenure...

I'd say he and Beuerlein were about the same level, and I am not willing to say either of them should have been considered in the top 20 of starting QBs any of the years they were our starters...

Five best years a Panthers quarterback has ever had...

1. Beuerlein 99

2. Delhomme 04

3. Delhomme 03

4. Delhomme 05

5. Delhomme 08

Delhomme was on his way to a great season in 07 before Tommy Jone.

If you think quarterback ratings are an accurate measuring stick of performance, then you should have your football watching privileges taken away.
