Peppers admits to taking plays off

I just don't buy it. I think this whole doesn't play hard as much as other players was just something the fans and prognosticators started saying, and it caught fire even though there was no evidence that Peppers did it any more than any other player.

All players have games in which they don't play as well they do in others. Take the guy everyone on here seems to love, Jared Allen. He had 7.5 sacks against Greenbay this year, and 7 against everyone else. He had a few dominant games, several average ones, and several in which his name was barely called. He was barely a factor in the last 5 games of the season for Minnesota. He had a total of 12 tackles and 2 sacks. Seems to me he took the NFC championship game off as I barely heard his name called. Or maybe New Orleans just did a good job against him.

I agree. Just because he never acted like ray lewis jumping and dancing doesn't mean he wasn't playing hard. Frankly, if he wasn't trying, after these eight years the coaches would've noticed and started rotating him in and out. But he played almost 100% of snaps. That's not what you do with a player who isn't playing hard. Granted, the guy had some bad games, but he's a DE, not a MLB.

Most older players with motors are out there are trying to prove they belong with the team. Peppers is a lazy fool. Now that he got paid, will he be making an appointment with Jiffy Lube? Personally I don't think it will do any good. He is set in ways and nothing will change that. Sure he will look great for awhile, but when Cutler starts turning the ball over and Peppers is tired, he will get down and distracted and the Bears fans will see why we let him leave.
