Burning my Peppers jersey at the bears game

please explain to me why jared allen is without a doubt better now. he plays on a line with superior players to the ones julius played with. last season he had 4 more sacks then peppers. peppers had more passes defended, they tied in forced fumbles and interceptions, and peppers had one more touchdown. 7.5 of allens sacks came against the packers who were arguably the worst offensive line in the league.

Allen had sacks in 8 games opposed to Peppers having sacks in 9 games. Which i guess means to all you football gurus that Peppers played harder then Allen in one more game. And when they played eacother Peppers was by far the superior player, and for the record Geoff Schwartz was the one shutting Allen down.

i will admitt that i am a huge Peppers supporter but i do not believe i overrate him in anyway. i come out with all these points and stats about him and the only arguments i get back are he is not a leader and does not try hard. is steve smith a leader when he calls out his (teammates) and punches them in the face. when he overreacts and kicks a player in the head and gets thrown out. and this is not me bashing steve smith, he is great. there is also no proof that julius peppers does not try. he statistics actually seem to prove otehrwise.

Hmm, not a bad point. I guess Allen obviously (f**king obviously really) playing with more heart and passion on every down regardless of production is what fools me into thinking he's so superior. The dude just doesn't quit easily (except against The Schwartz lol). Their stats are surprisingly quite similar when it comes down to it though. You have to remember though that they sit the Williams sisters A LOT during drives, so Allen's not always running with a beast lineup as you say, so you can't just credit his production to other linemen.

The thing about Peppers though is that he consistently produces good stats (except 2.5 sacks lol), but these stats can be really fooling. Panther fans can see for themselves that he plays with zero heart on many plays and loves to just run through the motions when he gets tired. Let's not forget about his trademark "no-show on third down" play. If Peppers had Allen's work ethic, he would be by far the best defensive end in the league, but alas the dude is just lazy and easily discouraged. I hope to god he doesn't do well next season, because then we only have ourselves to blame.

I do not agree that he is lazy or takes plays off. His teammates rave about how he is a freak at minicamp and comes in in great shape. But as long as you can accept the fact that Peppers could be the best DE in the league we can agree to disagree.

Once again look at the stats. Since 2004 Jared Allen has ten more sacks then Julius Peppers. Jared Allen also plays on arguably the best Dline in football. He plays with two monster DT in the middle, and if you do not think a DT matters that much for a DE please look at the stats of Andre Carter and Kyle Vanden Bosch when they played and didnt play with Haynesworth. Julius Peppers also had one very offseason for some reason where he only had 2.5 sacks which makes it look worse then it is. Julius Peppers is also superior in coverage and coverage then Jared Allen. Julius Peppers has more forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, tackles, passes denfended, interceptions, blocked kicks, and touchdowns then Jared Allen. Julius Peppers also led the league the past two years in games with sacks.

Julius Peppers has been eleceted to 5 pro bowls and 4 all pro teams. Jared Allen has been elected to 3 pro bowls and all pro teams. Julius Peppers has won one major nfl award opposed to Jared Allens 0.

PEPPERS IS A LAZY HALF ASS PIECE OF GARBAGE and i'm glad we got rid of him so brown and johnson can step up cuz I think they will be better anyway, we shouldn't have paid him what we did last year cuz he hurt r team in yet another way. You want to talk about his pro bowls? talk about how he wasted money last year or keeping a starting spot that could have been used by another one of our great DE's that kept them from progressing and getting better? :hurray::cheers2::boxing_smiley:

The dude is a freak. He has all the physical tools he needs to be elite. He is lazy in mind if that makes sense. He doesn't value work ethic (on gameday) like other defensive ends and he just doesn't look like he gives a f**k sometimes. It's sad because I know he has it in him to be consistent (that's all that matters to me, don't give me sack #s), but he doesn't follow through. It will be a sad day when we found out is was our coaching staff that failed in motivating him properly and he has his best season with the fuggin' bears...

...but it would not be surprising. We're panther fans, we're used to this bullshit.

What your saying does make sense and I think that in time we will come to realize it was our coaching staff, and that is whats gonna kill me. The guy has been in the league since 2002, and his technique is still awful, he is terrible with using his hands, and I believe that is on the coaching staff.
