Excitement back into the fan base...

Bye Dwill, hello first round.

Never gonna happen.... DWill is a franchise type of player.

Potential means until they prove themselves they are an unknown quantity. We could have a potentially good team or we could fall on our faces. One concern I have is that we are not only getting younger but we are getting less experienced as well and will be relying on guys who are untested. Hopefully the remaining veterans and coaches can take these young guys and mold them into a cohesive unit that will be able to weather the storm which comes every year. The lack of a strong locker room veteran presence such as Moose brought when Smitty and Lucas got into it may come back to haunt us. Time will tell.

Less experience maybe, untested some but I think they have enough confidence that all will work out.

Hopefully a good locker presence will emerge in OTA's.

Though we marvel how quickly the ax fell on alot of these players, including Jake. I think we have been preparing to do this much longer than most might think.

Peppers - we drafted Brown who IMO has a better motor and will make us forget Peppers in a hurry. I love his upside and think he will flourish in Meeks defense.

Delhomme - Stole Moore from the Cowboys and got a couple of chances to see him in action. 6-2 is pretty damn good for being a back up. This over 3 season. Moore has matured and I think is ready to be #1. He sounds excited and ready to keep the Panthers in high gear as he did at the end of 09.

Kemo and Lewis - Brought in a butt load of DT that fit Meeks mold including Johnson from Indy. We knew we had more DT's than we can carry on our 53 man roster. Someone had to go. I believe we might bring in on more DT free agent.

Diggs and Johnson. How Diggs lasted this long with the Panthers amazed me. I though he was here to give some of the younger players a chance to get in the groove. They my have but never could beat him out. But Drafting Connor and Anderson will pay big dividends now. Anderson has the lead. We'll address a FA LB.

IMO we have as good if not better players ready to step in for these lost players. I would like to see more depth added but don't be surprised if your starting 22 are already on this roster.

Agreed... we needed to make way for guys like Matt Moore, Dan Connor, James Anderson, Charles Johnson and Everette Brown to get some legitimate playing time.

I still remember how concerned everyone was when we released DeShaun Foster and went into a season with only DeAngelo Williams and no veteran HB... lots of people thought we should pick up Edgerrin James... thank god we didn't, it would have only delayed DeAngelo's development more.

Delhomme and Peppers were two major pillars of this organization for last the 7-8 years and we lost them both on the same day... there's a certain shock factor with that, but what we lost was a broken-down QB and a talented but 30 year old DE that would only stay if we broke the bank for him.

We didn't lose any superstars or impact players in Diggs, Landon Johnson, Damione Lewis and Kemo. These guys were decent, but the $ + age + talent quotient made it time to move them out.

Yes we would get something more but my point is teh panthers would be back in the first.

and Dave I think you mean it'll never happen this year.

He is a franchise player but so is his back up. It is only a matter of time. take emotion out of it Dwill is my favorite player from the panthers but the fact just needs to get accepted that when he is no longer worth his value he will be gone just like the guys recently except for dwill that might come a bit early because of Stewart. Unless Dwill wants to be here and takes a pay cut, one day sooner rather than later, you'll have to accept the fact.

you better get more than a 1st round pick. you think your gunna get someone as good as dwill with just a 1st rounder? hell no.

this is a deep draft....id take a starter 1st and a 2nd. and nothing less.

Neither Williams nor Stewart are going anywhere... our whole offense is built around are running game, it would be foolish trade either one of these guys right now.

Excitement over losing Peppers, dumping 12.7 mill on washed up Jake, dropping key vet players with large contracts, stating that we will not participate in one of the greatest opportunities ever to pick up starting talent through an uncapped free agency and committing to the a draft where we don't have a 1st round pick.

Not.

More like frustrated the Panthers have decided to low until 2011 and throw 2010 away while we develop unproven players. I'm sure Smith, Williams, Stewart and Beason are really excited about the developments over the last 2 days.

I was surprised Jake was cut but I would've been more surprised if he were to win the starting job back. I knew Peppers was gone because he didn't want to be here, like Jenkins. If we have another losing season, Fox may be joining them. I have new hope for the upcoming season, though.

His back-up can't stay healthy, and isn't as good as Williams, so I don't think we trade him any time soon.

I think the chatter and activity is more like nervous laughter. Like when you are at the dentist or doctor and for small talk you say more and laugh a little more to offset your own set of nerves and not knowing what the future holds.

There is some rebooting going on that's for sure with the Panthers. No first rd pick and not sure what kind of splash will be made in FA could lead to the ultimate Fox ball season of doing just enough to drive every fan with internet access insane.

I'm always hoping for the best.

I'm not really excited.. There are a lot of holes in the lineup and I have no idea of what is going to happen next.

2 of the most recognizable faces for our franchise had big news hit the wire yesterday of course there will be a spike in hits. Neither of them were real positive news for the Panthers. One was our former starting QB sucks and had to be cut the other was our best DE signed with another team. Neither are positive headlines for the future.

I am excited about seeing Matt Moore start, hopefully he will pick up where he left off last year.

This. Most folks are left wondering, not excited.
