Love You Jake! Was the only shot to win next year!

I have been reading these forums for about 6 years and decided it was about time I make an account. While I have followed Carolina for most of my life, I truly did not have a true NFL team allegiance till I started following Jake on the Saints when Mike Ditka picked him up and later got traded to the Panthers.

I love the Panthers and hope we do well with Matt Moore next year but this move is nothing more than a ploy to please the disillusion Matt Moore fans and justly pissed off Panther fans. While Jake understandably lost it last year after his elbow surgery, he had only one good wide receiver to throw to and our special teams SUCKED! Jake will be able to beat good teams next year but I don't see how Matt Moore has the skills to beat a team like the Saints when they have something to play for. Jake is an easy scape goat for a VERY below average team.

I really hope we make a tone of moves for 2010 because Matt Moore is NO solution to this team's problems!

Are you serious? I have payed for NFL Sunday ticket now for 10 years and have not missed a single game, even when at college when I would watch it on the internet!

I just feel that too many times people on this board forget what Jake did for us! There are not too many teams in the NFL with the success we have had in the past 7 years. He had one bad NFC game and a bad 09 season with a very poor Panther team. With the play calling, wide receivers, special teams, and inconsistent defense, Jake does not deserve the amount of blame he has received.

Peyton Manning cost the Colts the Superbowl, will they cut him? Tom Brady had a less than stellar year, will they cut him?

This move had nothing to do with making the Panthers a better team!

Ok so you just don't have a clue then...alright. Do I have to bring up his TD to INT stats for you the past 2 seasons? The last 2 years he's has more INTs than TDs. He was a cancer on offense holding us back. Our offense didn't click until Moore started and he blew Jake out of the water. Now that Jake is gone Moore doesn't have to look over his shoulder and has a legit shot at leading this team. We can open up our playbook more also.

We went to the Super Bowl SEVEN years ago. Last time we were in the NFC Championship game was FIVE years ago. Sorry you golden boy is gone, but its 2010 right now and Jake is gone. There's only one thing you can do and that is to just get over it. You can follow him when he's warming up the bench for some other QB in 2010.

You gotta understand that some of these "Jake haters" ..some of these middle class fans might have payed hard earned money to see the Panthers in the Cardinals playoff game or maybe the Eagles-Panthers season opener, games that were most likely special for a die hard Panthers fan And are kinda still... well, maybe really pissed off still.

Notice how the seats emptied pretty quickly in the 2009 season.

Meaning of this post: Just an example of people that support the team over a certain player.

I haven't seen anybody say MM will be savior of the team. But a lot of us are willing to give him a shot. He looked better than Jake has for the last two years. So, looking around, who is gonna come in and be any better than Moore right now? Sorgi? His window closed sitting behind Payton for too long. So who else??? A Rookie??.... Stop thinking with your heart, the team did.

I love when people who haven't posted but have lurked for years, come in and tell us they have been reading, but haven't posted. Why do we care? They always seem wait until they have something negative to say. And if you have been really been lurking as long as you say, then you know your BS will not be received well. Yet it happens....all the time.

Jake was never an elite QB. Jake had some good games but he was an average QB even when he played well. His time has come and gone. Everyone appreciates what he did for this team but he is done. I honestly think that he will not find another team elsewhere but that is my opinion. Maybe someone will give him another shot but I am glad it is not us. It makes me glad that someone in the Panthers organization finally grew a set and starting making decisions that make the team better.

Do you really think the front office takes a poll of the fans to see what they want to do? That is pretty much what you are implying.

God know I have stood by Jake for years. I think he was an upper echelon QB for the majority of his career. He is the wonderful cinderella story of the league. Rag to riches but his time was up. 2 yrs is the gauge for Tommy John surgery.

2008 Jake road the coat tails of an awesome running game and the little magic he had left in his tank but Detroit and Oakland should have been loses. Then the playoff game came. Many saw it as the end then. I didn't. By the time we played Buffalo (I was at that game) even the greatest Jake fan had to see the writing on the wall. I DID.

I personally think had Moore come in the 2nd half of that game. We would have been in the playoffs. We would have beaten Miami, NYJ and Buffalo and been 11 -5 instead of 8 - 8.

Your loyalty is admirable but if you didn't see the writing on the wall then you wasted your money on NFL Ticket because you clearly didn't see the games the way he played them.

Sorry to say but this had nothing to do with Whining fans for or against Jake. It had to do with, Doing the right thing for this club.

If he is such a good guy... then why is he not retiring.. he knows he sucks. Or give that money back somehow, buttload of money he did not earn in the first place. Hell, why took it in the first place and ruin the 2009 season, pissing on our trust and loyalty.
