So if the season started today...

Fortunately, the season doesn't start today.

i know right.

so according to that list, we need help at the following positions: (in order of importance)

defensive tackle

defensive end

wide receiver

linebacker

offensive lineman (guard, should vincent not be retained)

and a backup quarterback which is a given.

i really would like our chances in the draft a lot more if we went out and signed someone in free agency... regardless of their demeanor off the field. say... an aaron kampman, or antonio bryant. bryant obviously would be the one with the off the field issues. but i would see the Aaron Kampman deal going down before an antonio bryant deal.

then it could go, defensive tackle in 2nd round, wide receiver in the 3rd, defensive end in the 4th, 5th rounder went to the browns, so a decent linebacker in the 6th if there's any left. and a lineman we can get out of the undrafted class, since our offensive line coach (Magazu) is so damn good.

fixed that order for you. Fox obviously thinks he has something special in leonard and tyler and they just signed ed johnson, so i think they are pretty set there for the time being. DE, we need depth badly. WR, we have steve, and as much as i'm positive that he could single-handedly go out and be the only receiver necessary for the panthers to use, he gets tired too and needs someone to take the workload off.

oh ok, i can go with that i suppose. we do have a pretty long list of defensive tackles... but none of them weigh in close to Kemo's size. which is the only reason why i have defensive tackle up there. most of the DT's we do have are around 300lbs. hell, ed johnson, the guy we just signed, doesn't even hit 300lbs. but then i thought about the depth we have at defensive end, and we just really need help there. if we were to go out and get Aaron Kampman though, then would you agree that defensive end can drop to round 4? push wide receiver up to the second round, and defensive tackle to the 3rd? cause that would work for me. unless we just take defensive tackle completely off the board, but then that would go against what i was just saying about none of the guys we have being true run stoppers.
