Fox let something slip about the linebacker position next year.

Connor's 40 time is faster than beason's. Who's faster?

It doesn't matter who can win a race, it matters who can identify a play, react to it, and get there quicker. Straight-line speed and shuttle drills are good, but at some point you have to look at productivity and level of competition as well.

Connor is Penn State's leading tackler, for what it's worth. :)

Shame he never really stood out when he'd crack the lineup here.

I gurantee you if a moist patch of asphalt got the start at SAM it would prove to be an upgrade over Diggs.

Fixed.

I loved the Nail as much as the next guy, but just like a lot of posistions on this team this is one that needed an upgrade in terms of age at the very least.

FWIW, though, me thinks that Connor will get the start and will shut us all up in three games.

And Natives are better than all of you.

your the one who used the combine results to support your idea that connor should be the SLB and now your saying they aren't really all that important? why did you bring them up then?

Bringing up his combine results and his college productivity isn't all that relevant, he's in the NFL now.

I feel that connor is a very good MLB I just don't think he'll make it on the outside consistently. He can be a package guy and the backup MLB. And it wouldn't be a disaster if he I'd like to be wrong since it seems we're really going to rely on our younger guys. But I don't see him as a cover 2 OLB. He's just a hair too slow, he's not really clumsy but it just seems like he's moving slower than a lot of guys. I don't think he'll be an effective blitzer at all from what I've seen.

The pats game that everybody has brought up where he got 8 or 11 tackles also had Anderson getting 9 and Beason getting 16. Brady had a lot underneath that game 10 yard average and they ran the ball 38 times at a great YPC. All the linebackers had tackles that game.

He's not a hair too slow, when he's been out there he's been as productive as you could hope for. When he got extended playing time against New England last year he notched 11 tackles. He's more than capable of starting at Sam or Mike than a lot of current starters around the league, and will likely be our starter next year.

Some people keep insisting that he lacks speed or something, and for their benefit I posted the combine results. I don't get it myself--you can post stats and they'll ask for 40 times. Post combine numbers and they point to how he doesn't get 8 tackles a game from the bench. Some people seem to have made up their mind that he's slow, and you can't convince them otherwise.

I guess he'll have to do that himself on the field next year.

Don't forget FA and the Draft. I really like AJ Edds out of Iowa. Perfect Tampa 2 SLB as he is great in coverage and he still plays the run well. He should be available in the 3rd-4th. He reminds me of a younger more athletic Diggs.

Anderson was a solid WLB, Connor made a couple big plays at SLB in one game. That's all they're really saying - if they can dump two big salaries, put two young guys in one spot, and develop young players behind it, they will. So they'll let competition hash it out. Davis will certainly not be moving - no way. I mean, the guy was on his way to the Pro Bowl at WLB last year.

I sure hope he proves my doubts wrong. I don't see him as a OLB in this system. I think I have that pats game somewhere ill check it out. I just see him as being serviceable in a pinch but iwould rather him be redzone guy, st ace, and back up MLB.

So now Connor is an 3-4 LB, though he has never played in the 3-4? Nice.

Keep up the good work.

Anyways, I don't see them moving Davis again ~ he excelled where he was.

The competition will be for the otherside.

Connor is a smart player, and while he may not have the speed many covent, he could prolly play every lb position ~ just not at the same time. He's a smart kid. Anderson also showed us why the Panthers were happy to pick him several years ago. Will be a good competition for the other starting spot.

players in college project to play different positions in the pros. for example, there are like five 3-4 defenses in the college ranks, yet tons of 4-3 players are projected to make the switch after the draft.

for more information about this, i'd suggest nfl.com/kids
