Fox getting teary eyed while talking about Jake's release...

It depends on what your MOS is too though. I was in a very small community of soldiers where we all ran into each other almost no matter where we went. I served with some of the same guys from boot camp, through AIT, Korea, and Ft. Stewart, and that wasn't the exception to the rule.

Yeah I was at Ft Benning and Ft Richardson. It was harder for me leaving Richardson just because it felt more like they was family. I even hang out with some still that I met up there.

It makes Fox and Hurney look like idiots because of extreme boneheaded decisions recently. Every question people wondered about Delhomme recently was answered. I'm sorry, but you cannot defend Fox and Hurney. Both put too much heart into Delhomme. Sadly, to the point where they blindly excused Delhomme's faults and in the process, ruined Delhomme's legacy.

I don't think anyone here is defending the contract. I about wrecked my car the day they announced it. I'm defending their human side today. Jake was the leader of the team. Not by position. By personality. It's easier to find good players in the NFL than it is good leaders.

Playing a sport is still playing a sport! The competitiveness, comradery, friendships are still on the playing field rather you get paid millions or not. Most of these guys grew up with football as their passion. Just because they start getting paid after years of playing doesn't change most players’ passion for the game

Some of these people just don't have a clue about the relationships that develop when you go through extreme situations with people. And make no mistake, playing and coaching football in the NFL is very extreme compared to a regular job. I've left civilian jobs and didn't really care one way or the other if I ever saw any of my coworkers again.

Oh okay, my bad.

I wouldn't find fault with Fox and Hurney crying if the extension/loyalty/etc. from this past season and a half didn't happen. To me, that makes this showing of emotion so much worse...

Bosses should not become "good friends" with their employees if keeping the company in peak competitive condition is a priority. It clouds sound decision making in business. You may find yourself making a piss poor decision over and over again just to avoid an awkward and hurtful personal situation.

Sound familiar?

When u start getting personal with your employees is when you get screwed. If you are worrying about your personal relationships with your employees over making sure your business is running correctly than you are doing something truly wrong.

This and this. I've fired people before. It aint fun but business is business.

I have fired dozens of people in my day. Never fun...

well, thats not exactly true. Sometimes fun, most of the time uncomfortable. Can't imagine firing a close friend. I'd probably cry just after trying to cover up the reasons I had to fire him for a couple years.

Not in the NFL, but I've played enough sports and experienced enough of the same sort of thing in the Army that I understand it. What have you done that would compare?

Played a mean game of online rummy last night... that count?
